Did the contract state it would only be released in box office?

That's pretty much the basis of the lawsuit.

You're being ridiculously unfair. Socialism works GREAT FOR EVERYONE! Except if it doesn't. Like when it costs you millions personally. So she's really being consistent amirite.

They got to use her whether its the box office or Disney plus, and likewise she should get compensated for both.

Which is the crux of the whole debate. Not sure why people can’t grasp that part

She has it in an email where Disney assured her it would only be a theatrical release, otherwise she would have insisted on renegotiating the contract. Disney is going to lose this

This was in her lawsuit, its pretty damning, its from the VP of something or other and he states "it will be released in usual form", that would imply the way they have done it 100s of times, let the box office play out and then release on video cable etc.

She specifically asked about on line and the timing and he purposely deceived her.

This is a huge case for all Hollywood stars. This could cause a pivot like the early days of Arnold. He was the first actor to say forget the salary for the movie, Ill take a small percentage of the GROSS (not the net so you can employ all your relatives, pay them a million a piece and show no profit), that way we both have skin in the game. The studio who would finally take his movie agreed, the movie was Terminator, everyone made out like bandits.

Post the contract. I have a hard time believing there is a movie made that will only be in theater and never streamed.

Its the timing. I assume she got a better percentage on the box office, and then some crumbs when it went to cable/on line/etc. In the past thats where the studio made most of the money. Disney chose to release in theatres AND online at the same time, no doubt that hurt her earnings and increased theirs because they did not have to pay theatres ( or her) as much. Had she known this she would have restructured the contract. They led her to believe they would follow the former practice, not the latter.

They did the same thing with Cruella. It costs $30 to buy the movie on Disney+. Definitely a huge profit for Disney.

Lotta fine print to be sifted through. I'll bet there are some industry terms with specific meaning that would go unnoticed by most folks. I doubt the movie would have pulled in a great deal more had it been 'exclusively' released theatrically, but there's a good chance she'll win a portion of what she's asking.

I'm liking how Emma Stone and Emily Blunt are now talking about similar filings.

From what was posted in this thread it was Producer who fricked it up when he emailed her that Disney would release it "like they normally do".

They've only released it like this once before with Cruella if I'm not mistaken.

It was a request of the monkey to post the contract, I have already been to page one and read rumor and spin. Let the monkey post the contract since he is certain of precise wording.

You're still ignoring incredibly key parts of what's been posted. I'll post it again knowing that you'll likely still ignore it....

Your post alluded to you misunderstanding and thinking it was said that the move "would never stream". Literally no one said that.

no one.

not one person.

and you keep pushing into an argument that never existed by making requests to something everyone knows cannot be fulfilled to try and see wording that never was said to have been included in the first place.

Hope that helps.
