“Loss of confidence”?

Is this a polite way of saying “She couldn’t steer the fricking boat”?

It’s a Navy joke in general these days.

FFS, the commissioned officer at my school’s ROTC program had managed to be the command officer on two different ships that ran aground. Considering his record driving school busses, I found it hilarious when one of the ROTC guys clued me in on it.

How many people in her position get fired?

I would love to see the stats. I would imagine this is exceedingly rare.

I'll take the hit and be in the minority on this one -- Could have happened to anyone.

She seemed to have talent, experience and credentials for the posting.

This is not the same DE&I as 'just because she's female'.

The bowling alley sells long islands by the pitcher. My best friend got drugged i think. I drank with him for 7 years before we joined, no issue, yet he was so out of it he shite his bunk. They made him walk of shame the shitty mattress across the ship and out to the dock to throw it in a dumpster.

How much of a frick up do you have to be in order to get fired from a government job when you're a female minority in 2023?

It's probably better than a 60% chance it was the above.

A good friend of mine while I served, was booted for that exact reason.

There are a bunch of stories about “ring knockers” who should have been tossed for racing their goddamn ships in a dangerous manner who got saved because they were part of the USNA fraternity.
