What??? No fricking WAY. Obama Admin revoked Security clearances?

quote:

“W.H. Looks to Scrub Clearance List,” was the November 21, 2013, headline at the far-left Politico.

In a directive obtained by POLITICO, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper questioned the booming rolls of security-clearance holders. At last count, more than 4.9 million people held clearances, of whom over 1.4 million were cleared for access at the “Top Secret” level.
“I write to express my concern about threats to national security resulting from the increasing number of people with eligibility for access to classified national security information, particularly Top Secret (TS) and Top Secret/Secure Compartmented Information (TS/SCI),” [then Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper wrote in a three-page memo, dated Oct. 31 and cited at a Senate hearing Wednesday.

Clapper asked agencies to perform a top-to-bottom scrub of the teeming rolls of people authorized to access classified information and to remove anyone deemed not to have a so-called need to know.

Only if that opinion is adverse to the party in power or just a blanket rule of rescission following any public statements?

Probably you draw the line when the person starts screaming that he knows that the POTUS committed treason.

No. Someone who is no longer a government employee with clearance and polarizing political positions can only lead to abuse. There is no good reason for clearance to remain. Only the opportunity for abuse. You disagree?

No, they did it for the same reasons as Trump Admin. National security best interests.

This was part of the beginning of their coup plan, remove access to those that could see what they were building and attempting.... She was supposed to win so no one would have seen anything after...

I hope all this hoopla about security clearances leads to Congress acting on it and passing a law that persons in government positions that require a security clearance for their job will automatically have that clearance revoked upon their exit from government. If they eventually return to a government position, then they can have their clearance reinstated.

John Brennan is a private citizen. He no longer has a need for any security clearance.

Sure. Show me the list of all former officials getting their clearances pulled. The above-board explanations I've seen are that no former officials need them. The more insidious suggestion would be that only officials who criticize the President don't need them.

Do McMaster and Tillerson still have their clearances?

Well, calling the dude who holds power over your clearance "treasonous" and suggesting that the entire National Security team should quit is a bit over the top, no?

I love the phony equivalency as if "he just expressed an opinion". That is childlike in it's simplicity.

Brennan doesn’t need security clearance to criticize Trump. He only needs security clearance to criticize Trump with top secret info.

Honestly, this seems like a procedural issue that can be resolved. I believe all employees should lose TS clearance when their termination ends. However, there should be a way to speed up the approval process for people who have recently held access. Perhaps a fast track renewal process for those who recently left a position where they had access and moved to a new company/position that required it?

To the point that Clapper, the guy who lead the purge of 2013, called him out. Thus Brennan started walking back that comment saying "that's not what I said"..
