Just a guess, but I bet the ones complaining the loudest don't own mineral rights.

ETA: I kind of miss the Weather Channel on directv.

I will say this, I wouldn't want to live in the middle of the Eagle Ford shale right now for any number of reasons....I would've liked to own property (with minerals) there, but after cashing in I'd move.

DirectTV doesn't offer The Weather Channel anymore? I didn't even notice.

Wow what junk. It's long but full of leading statistics on what could go wrong or could be happening but no real evidence of things being bad. Great quote from a local who complains about oily substance all over her car in the mornings yet she has never complained to ANYONE!!! right...

yeah... they do better with the national weather coverage than the direct tv weather channel but all in all I don't miss their agenda driven coverage.

TWC is headquartered in Atlanta.

Not exactly. TWC is a joint venture between NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast Cable, and the investment firms, Bain Capital and the Blackstone Group.

If it's based in Atlanta I ASSUME it was originally a Ted Turner deal? Not exactly a big conservative.

Texas apparently can't control its own business so we obviously need more government funding at the federal level and more taxes to support the additional funding. Seems like the only solution.

Moarrrrrr government.

I really don't think the article is that outrageous...somewhat. I guarantee none of you would want to live in EF Shale...especially in volatile oil to condensate/gas area where there is a lot of H2S.

No, it was one of the few cable start ups Turner was not involved with.

It was started by a former Good Morning America meteorologist John Coleman and Landmark Communications who was headed by Frank Batten.

Turner wasn't involved.

I would not want to, but not for dangerous reasons, but quality of life. No different than living down wind of a paper plant, with the exception of H2S. There should be a vapor recovery system depending on PPM level. Mercaptans smell but I don't believe they are harmful.
