Do people not understand the difference here?

What Trump and Reiner did around Kirk's death or this one are completely irrelevant.

People react to the Kirk reactions, not because one person said one thing, it's because it was pretty clear that a large portion of the Left, by virtue of their language for the past three decades, do not want specifically Christian Conservatives being a part of any political process, they want them silenced in any way possible. Even in death. And that their removal from the process, by whatever means, is necessary and beneficial to progress.

You can try to paint a bunch of stuff around this, but that's what it was. The Left do not actually want the opinion of a Chrisitian Conservative counted in anything. That's why people reacted the way they did. It had nothing to do with reactions to Kirk specifically, but what that means at scale.

But, they are not. One was political, the other was personal

I disagree. One could argue that the way Reiner voted lead to his death. Maybe his kid would have gotten his life together if the justice system was harder on him for being a homeless addict. Maybe he would still be in jail by breaking probation by not getting his life together. One could argue that it's Rob Reiner's fault that his pos son slit his and his wifes throats. It might he a harsh thing to say, but the way you vote has long term consequences. (Positive or Negative)

Every liberal politician or person I heard said Kirk’s death was a horrible tragedy. They deplored the act of violence, regardless of their feelings about Kirk’s
politics.

Jimmy Kimmel, for example said the assasination was horrific. He only criticized those on the right who seemed to be trying to use the event to their advantage. He didn’t criticize Charlie as a person…
