That’s a dangerous way to look at it. Suppose that 2/3 of the states and a super majority sit in the house and senate. Next, they pass a new amendment banning (insert something “unspeakable” hear) and states adopt it as a constitutional amendment. Well, you “living document” just created a massive problem for a whole bunch of folks.

I cannot comment on what the government would do if they “banned” AK47s because I do not have a crystal ball that tells the certainty of the future (and it’s already effectively banned)
But I’ll answer it if you asked “could” rather than “would”:
The 2nd Amendment was put in place to insure the people aka “civilians” has access to the same fire power as soldiers. What happened in 1930’s Germany could happen if you banned what you are referring to as an AK47.
Where do you draw the line? Is the sks ok? German Mauser? Mini14? Where is the line?

Tough shite, your opinion isn't worth much in the face of reality. Miller v. United States stated that the 2nd Amendment protected weapons that could be considered as "ordinary military equipment" and "in common use at the time". Are you going to argue that semi-automatic rifles are not "ordinary military equipment" and not "in common use" at this time?
