This guy is a teacher, ladies and gentlemen. Let that sink in.

Common in Louisiana. Which is why a photo ID should be required.

They sell the cards for cash in a lot of cases.

It is fraud and it is illegal. You seem to have a hard time understanding the difference between right and wrong. Not surprising…

Who would finance a new vehicle for someone on SNAP?
100% the truck isn’t in his name. You can’t own anything and get benefits.

I am friends with several teachers and even in college you knew why they were becoming teachers even though they were pretty smart just no drive or common sense.

Bring in a modern version of the "poor farm" where destitute people could always go for food and shelter as long as they were willing to help raise the food and maintain the shelter.
NY's Mayor Koch proposed the idea back in his day. Of course, he was shot down.

At some point we all have to ask "Are we the idiots?"
Short answer: No.
Verifcation: Would you trade places? No. Sure, it would be nice to have the illusion of “relief” from the “government”- but if it means risking going to jail for fraud or actually being poor- no thanks.
That said, I share your frustration (understatement). And I thank you for not being a shameless, dishonest, petty, selfish, ignorant, prideful failure of a human being; who knowingly and willfully defrauds his government and steals from his neighbors. Thank you.
You know, while legal and political action have their place, don’t underestimate the power of shame. A subtle, well-intentioned (this is key), glance of judgment can stay with a man for years.

Sounds like this guy is a leach and might be a drug dealer or immigrant smuggler buying his accessories with cash

quote:Yep, you need to brush up on reading comprehension. Yes, he said he was a foster parent and was clearly embarrassed to be using an EBT card. He paid for some of his items with a debit/credit card and the rest with the EBT.
Did you or did you not assert that they could be foster parents?
If you go back a read my post, I ended it with "Don't be quick to judge". You literally misjudged me because you can't comprehend my message. Foster parents are taking on a huge task, and shouldn't be responsible for the economic hit that comes along with raising a kid that no one else wanted. I commend the people that have that in their heart and think they should get more than they do, to take on the job of raising a kid and keeping it out of a State-run, group home. My point is, he felt like he should explain why he was using a EBT card to the cashier at a fricking Dollar General! If you want to get into the weeds about dirtbags, I work in healthcare. Just got an order today on a 35 y/o Medicaid female. 5'4", 384lbs with a history of STDs. She's getting free shite because she's a tub of lard and makes extremely bad life choices. I'd be willing to bet a large su of money that she holds an EBT card too, but for a very different reason than the guy driving a decent care, and takes in foster kids.

You are saying a program to give people free cell phones was started by Reagan in the 80s?
no.
I said the free phones started out as a Reagan era program:
"Following the breakup of the Bell System in 1984, concerns arose about maintaining affordable phone service. The Reagan administration established Lifeline to ensure continuous access to basic telephone services for low-income Americans. "
It expanded under Bush:
"The program underwent significant expansion in 2005 with the inclusion of wireless services."

And I'm really not sorry this doesn't comport to your political biases.
"But, but, but muh Obama phones..."

Was he buying life necessities like beer or some bullshite like broccoli and stuff for the family?
Posted on 7/22/25 at 8:51 pm to greygoose
At no point did I disparage being a foster parent so I am not sure what you are trying to prove, I did state that whoever was buying groceries with a 3/4 ton truck was very unlikely to be a foster parent considering 1% of all EBT users are foster parents.
