There were school shootings. Dozens and dozens of them. But they didn't involve a huge number of kids, generally just somebody taking a gun to school and dealing with a particular student or teacher that they had a problem with.
Mass media has taken it from kids bringing a gun to school to target a particular individual to kids going for a body count so they can get their sick glorification and attention from the media.

I don’t remember blacks in Mayberry either. A southern town in the middle of North Carolina and not a black to be seen?
In the episode where Ernest T. Bass tries to join the army, there are some black guys mixed in among the white boys at the induction center. I am willing to bet this was done at the insistence of the Pentagon.
That's all I know of until the black football coach.
FWIW there were a couple of black regulars (local farmer and his daughter) on the successor show Mayberry RFD.
