The Andy Griffith rebuttal? What a joke that was. He's comparing 1960 Mayberry to 2018 America. It ain't nowhere near the fricking same. That whole bit was dumb as hell.
So yeah, let's disarm all our police officers and let them police by gaining the respect of the criminals they are trying to detain. People will applaud Oliver. People are fricking dumb.

John Oliver calls BS, but just doesn’t seem to call BS on the fact that despite us having kids with guns in their cars and trucks at school all the time, we just didn’t have these school shootings. Why is that?
BTW, Mayberry was a fictitious town in a make believe world and not a very good example to pull from. Just stick to real world facts in the future sir. The Liberals don’t have any answers for that. You play right into their hands when you point to make believe, because that’s what they do best.

Yep, 1960 Mayberry was closer to 1960 Sweden. Homogeneous and basically crime free.

Oliver misses a very big point: The fictional Andy Taylor had the RIGHT and the CHOICE to be armed or unarmed. He was explaining his personal choice in the clip.

Don't forget the bootleggers who lived in the hills, and the occasional grifters on other undesirables who wandered in to town from time-to-time. Either way, Aunt Bea made one Hell of a pot roast.
