Not like they haven’t already been doing this but now they’re trying to codify it into law.

Guessing so they can try to use it as evidence without it being thrown out.

The Supreme Court needs to do its duty and strike down this Nazi bullshite.

Someone needs to file a lawsuit as soon as that bill gets signed into law. It is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Now? No.

It's been this way for a long time. Last renewal was in 2018, it was approved widely by Republicans and signed into law by Trump.

New FISA Bill: Forcing Americans To Spy On Americans

https://dianelgruber.substack.com/p/new-fisa-bill-forcing-americans-to?utm_campaign=post&showWelcomeOnShare=true

quote:

After this bill becomes law, any individual or company that provides any service whatsoever can be forced to assist the federal government in their spying efforts against Americans. Those who are forced to help the DC Swamp are mandated, under strict penalties, to not tell the target that he/she is being spied upon. Any individual or company who has access to equipment on which communications are transmitted or stored, such as routers, servers, cell towers, etc. he/she can be conscripted into the fed’s spy ring.

You do realize this is a renewal, right?

And this law is not a new one, right?

And Trump signed the last renewal, which Gaetz voted for, right?

Yes we know what it is, they used it to spy on the Trump campaign after lying to the FISA judges to get the warrant.

Now they don’t even need a warrant.

That’s a formality.
I guarantee that if a US citizen, within the confines of our country’s border, placed more than five select words in any comm during the last twenty years, said citizens home would be visited by dark blue windbreakers in short order.

Who hasn't supported FISA at some point (When given more than 1 opportunity to do so)?

Rand Paul
Massie
Ron Wyden

Three aren't many more than those 3. I made a thread about it last week.

Did they need a judge to sign off to spy on Trump?

Do they need one now?

Kennedy voted for the amendment that would require a warrant, then when that failed he voted for the renewal. He is such a fraud.

Nothing has changed with respect to that, and yes, for that sort of spying, a warrant is (and was) required.

Again, this is just a renewal of a law that's been on the books for a LONG time.

Only a very small number of pols had the balls to reject FISA renewal both in 2018 and 2024.

Not yet.

I would imagine that FISA + AI = some scary capabilities.
