biggest chunk of the planned 2017 spending, $78.9 million, is devoted to democracy, human rights and governance programs, including supporting civic institutions. An additional $43.8 million is devoted to promoting peace and security, including counter-narcotics operations and combating transnational crime. The smallest piece of the 2017 package, $11.9 million, is for environmental and climate change programs.

So, about $135M in 2017, and $4.8B in 2019? Something smells very fishy.

Has the administration admitted this yet?

Whatever lol. This is what you are desperately hoping for and it’s so far from the truth.

I think something like 500 billion of that was spent on signage to let everyone know these were government projects

question is what happened to the trillion dollar infrastructure campaign promise?

there were a couple of trump promises I wanted.

One was revalue yuan. There was public furor on part of China when he brought it up and next thing you know, he's given it up on promise China will sit on north Korea and stop threatening us a and south Korea and Japan with nukes.

The other was infrastructure. How can any One be against it?

He's used to paying people off. So why not pay Mexico something that is strangely very close to $5B, and then they can pay for the wall and he can keep his promise.

Not that $5B even comes close to what his base thinks of as a 'wall.'

No wall funding with a GOP controlled house the last 2 years. People are now expecting, with a straight face, that a D controlled house is going to fund it.

Optics.

Mean Democrats like Schumer / Pelosi can be blamed for his failure to get started on that beautiful wall.
