The Biden campaign must be in a heap of trouble for him to make such a decision now. It's lobbing a Hail Mary with 2 1/2 quarters still to be played.
I think Biden is really desperate. All of the energy and contributions are funneling into the young Turks in the party. Biden is being left behind as some sort of relic of a bygone era.

Biden can’t match the grassroots fundraising by Bernie or Beto so he needs someone the grassroots can get excited about. Also, Biden’s lane to a nomination comes from AA community. It makes a lot of sense to tap Abrams. I’ve been hearing about this for several weeks.

That would be a doofus and a doofus team. But at least Joe learned from his ex-team mate, Obama. Find the dumbest person in the room to partner with, that makes you look better. Addition by subtraction. She would help with blacks. But most will vote for him already. I was in a restaurant (owned by a local lady) when she came to town running for gov. I had no clue who she was. Her demeanor, walking around, saying nothing. Candidate for governor would have never crossed my mind.
