Fog of war is real.
I don't trust shite from anyone regarding that war. Be it us, Ukraine, Russia, random assortment of western countries, merc groups, etc.

Most were convicts, sounds like something the US should do.

Russians had prisoner legions during WWII then re-imprisoned them after the war. The resulting fight between the Vors who refused to fight and the ones that did? The Bitch Wars.
I wish I could make this shite up.

According to Prigozhin Ukraine suffered 100,000-120,000 casualties and 50k dead. That sounds about right due to them shelling the shite out of the Ukranian forces day and night for months.
quote:
Prigozhin said Soviet leader Josef Stalin would not have accepted such failure. A cross-border attack into Russia's Belgorod region indicated the failures of the military leadership, he said, warning that Ukraine would seek to strike deeper into Russia.
Russia needed to mobilise more men and to gear the economy exclusively to war, Prigozhin said.
Wagner, he said, had recruited around 50,000 convicts during the war, of whom about 20% had perished. Around the same amount of his contract soldiers - 10,000 - had perished, he said.
In Bakhmut, Prigozhin said, Ukraine had suffered casualties of 50,000-70,000 wounded and 50,000 dead.

Question I have is if this means killed. Wounded figures are usually 4x killed.
ETA: looks like the breakdowns were posted later in thread. Thats a lot

The Wagner group is full of thugs, low-life’s and career criminals. Heavy losses Are a win-win for Russia.
We should send 20,000 of our “best and brightest” over to die for Ukraine.

Don't care. Let the undesirables fight, maybe there will be less crime.

x 4 and you have a much more accurate number.
You're thinking Ukrainians. They lie about their losses daily. They had like 8 rounds of mobilization.
Prigozhin charact seems to sling shite at RU authorities and if anything, he's exaggerating losses for effect.

I'll take things pulled from my arse for $100, Alex. Moscow claimed 6K. Prigozhin is now saying 20K. Like virtually everyone else, I have no idea what to believe, but slapping a 4X value on there is pure speculation. Prigozhin also claimed they were running out of ammo and leaving, then stayed to fight and win, but at what appears to be a pretty heavy cost. Then again, Prigozhin mostly recruited criminals and bagabons into his mercenary army; they aren't well-trained, so maybe Moscow doesn't really care how many die. I hope Obama and the CIA are proud of their efforts to pro-Westernize Ukraine. Looks like it's working out well for everyone from Kyiv to Kazan.
Bingo.
Everyone involved in this war, on all sides, says things for a purpose...and that purpose isn’t to be truthful.

Well worth it for the MIC to offload some supplies.
