Born in 83 in West Texas. We learned communism as bad and Reagan was awesome. Not just from home but from school as well. The concept of anybody even thinking communism as being good in any way shape or form was foreign to me till I was in my late 20s.

I always identify more with GenX, but I grew up in the middle of a cotton field as a latch key kid. I think the societal norms associated with millennials didn’t get to me as quickly so I escaped it.

I was a Bush 43 guy but got fairly swept up in the Ron Paul and Tea Party around 2010.

Born in 1983

I agree with your rant.

However Would say I was never taught anything about communism being good.

I always heard from the time I was little that communism was shite.

But didn’t Reagan frick us over by signing blanket immunity to the pharmaceutical cartels for their fricking REQUIRED vax shots?

Reagan would be considered an "establishment" uniparty Manchurian candidate by todays standards

Great post, Wednesday.

I disregarded my self-imposed permaban bet just to upvote.

I'd throw in the dildo gif but . . .

I still remember all the fallout shelter signs on buildings around UGAs campus. Thank you President Reagan for helping defeat the communists. It appears now we only won the battle, not the war. The threat was d call communism has never seemed greater, just without Mutually Assured Destruction.

Great post! I was born in 1969, the youngest of 5, so my older brothers and sisters would be considered boomers, not sure what generation I am.
I had the pleasure of growing up during the times you described and I am so grateful for it. It was a great time to be a kid, a young adult, and adult. These days aren’t so great, but we can change it. I have faith in us!

While I agree Reagan was a great president, he really screwed us on the 2A with the ‘86 GCA. I’ll always hold that against him.

At the age of 19, I cast my first vote for Reagan in 1980. The previous 10 years were a time of uncertainty; Watergate, the Vietnam War and the Iran Hostage Crisis had us second guessing ourselves as a country. We were also dealing with crushing inflation. President Carter, while being perceived as a good man, was proving to be inadequate to right the ship.
Reagan reminded us we were still a great nation and that adhering to American principles and showing reverence for the Almighty could right the ship.

There was never a clearer choice.

Reagan set the Liberals back on their heals to the point that Ted Kennedy was begging the Kremlin for help. His presidency set in motion events that would end the Cold War, and set up America as the world's lone Superpower.

It was the best of times.

It pains me to see what this country has come to since then. The choice is even clearer now.

I remember the Reagan era. I also remember the Carter administration and how truly miserable it was. This is deja vu.
