It’s not ignorant bloodlust to believe that a cop has the right to defend his own life. That’s the situation here, whether you can allow yourself to admit it or not.
The common sense concept is not at all unlike that of someone starting a fight, and getting themselves beat to death. Ever hear the phrase, “Don’t start none, won’t be none?”

Characterize it however you’d like, I’ll do the same with what you said, deal? I don’t find it acceptable to minimize the number of soldiers killed in wartime by saying the rate is less than what it was before, either. Nothing is acceptable about a criminal killing a cop who is trying to bring a criminal to justice. Whether one murder a week sounds like an improvement to you or not, it sounds unacceptable, and alarming to me. It doesn’t matter if it is cops, soldiers, people who do whatever you do, or even lawyers. Criminals killing them at any rate is unacceptable. It’s like illegal aliens committing rape, robbery, murder or any other crimes in this country. It’s completely unacceptable that it even happens, much less it happening with enough frequency for there to be a rate at which it happens.
