But I don't think anything can top Fort Polk for just absolute suck shittiness.
I was stationed at Fort Polk, I can confirm it's a massive shithole. I can't imagine any post topping it for shittiness.
And, for some of the other posts, most Vets don't get disability for life (as it's being said). Disability is easy to get for Tinnitus (10% - which is about 180 bucks a month), but anything else is difficult short of losing a limb.

It all a piece of shite going down. I'm grateful I never came down on any PCS order for either. Had recruiting school at Jackson back in the day.
Hat tip to you if you were ever cadre at either. Ill buy you a beer and thanks for your service.

You too, man.
I was not a cadre at either. But I've been on rotations through both. Give me Irwin any day honestly. I don't know how people in Louisiana survive.

Vets are regular people also. And like with most regular people, if they have access to influence or power, they will also become corrupt, because outside entities will utilize bribes or extortion to turn them into puppets.

Yeah, the truth is that the military is just as much a mixed bag as the civilian world. I met some amazing patriots in the military, and also some of the worst shitbags you could imagine.

I agree especially frick the Somali etc fraudsters.
But, we spend $300 billion/year on Veterans Administration. It's more than China's whole military budget. For context we spent $25 billion in 2000 which is about $50 billion today.
No veterans are on the street if they don't want to be.
Don't fall for the bullshite signs you see at overpasses.

Robert Heinlein wrote a book about that.

According to a 2023 or 2024 The Hill article I read...
Of ppl enlisting post 2010....40% pull a disability check.
1% or so injured in combat.
You're correct that there's a few hundred billion $$$ in straight up VA fraud.
