What about the military families that will suffer? No passed budget means no appropriations for military pay and allowances.

Your taxes also pay for some of the services you wont receive during a shutdown.

You may not notice it for a day or two but give it a week and you'll start to notice things.

whats really crazy is that they continue to get reelected by the same people they betray

Checking in here

Starting tomorrow I will be at home, not working, through no fault of my own

I don’t fully understand this situation (kinda new-ish to this scene), but it’s infuriating to me that I can’t receive a paycheck until these assholes in DC get their shite together

So you fricks that are celebrating this are weird..

I’ve said for years…..if the children of Congress were first to be enlisted to fight a war…..fewer wars would be fought.

If the pay of the House and Senate plus all benefits were stopped…. The actions taken with the intent to harm the citizens would not take place.

The country is 37.5 trillion in debt. The government would have to not spend a dollar for 7 years to get back to even.

The situation is a little bigger than your job.

If I was looking for a career and got a great offer from a company with financials like that, I would pass. Unless you are in the 30% of the fedgov that we need and that should be a government function, I'd look for something in the private sector.

Here we went out and talked to the active duty military guys to let them know what they could do. Their banks will front them 6 weeks worth of pay. This shutdown will probably be resolved by Monday or they will do a partial shutdown like last time.

Dude multiple people have posted here. Your bank will give you a 0% loan to cover your pay for over a month. You just pay it off when you get your reimbursement.

Oh, and only non essential parts of the government will be shut down???????

fricking good! Great! Now, we're FINALLY getting somewhere!!!!

If it's non-essential, why do my tax dollars pay for it?

All government should be completely bereft of "non-essential". The minarchist in me absolutely screams about this kind of shite.

I worked for Feds for a decade. I understand that good people are involved and will be harmed, but frankly, that is a necessity. I hope the Government stays shut down for a few weeks and Trump uses it to permanently eliminate 30% of the workforce.

Man, we need it. I think a 30% reduction would probably be an optimal minimal solution to our spending problems with government funding.

Again it's the minarchist in me, but I truly believe that anything "non-essential" should be private sector anyway. And NGOs that exist only to perform government tasks that the fed is constitutionally forbidden from doing, should be completely outlawed and banned.

IMO, people don't hate Federal Employees enough. I worked with high level, six figure earners that I would not trust to babysit my dog. These people are professional grifters, getting worthless degree after degree (on our dime) and getting step up increases year after year. Most Federal work is fairly land work that doesn't need to be done.

I know one that constantly brags about how little work he has to do and brings home over 6 figs.

The way he talks, sounds like his entire office just eats and talks all day.
