I thought this may be more of a Travel Board question, but a lot of Cali folks are on this board. My parents are planning a family trip to California this spring. Wife (no pics) and I have been invited. I am unvaccinated and am concerned about committing to go because of being unvaccinated. We would fly in and out of LAX to meet my parents, who are driving across country as part of a longer vacation. We would then drive to Bakersfield and do Yosemite, Sequoia, a couple of nights in San Fran, the Pacific Coast Hwy and a night or two in Los Angeles. Anyone have any insight into whether my vaccine status will seriously restrict my ability to have a normal vacation? Thanks for any info.

Yes

Was looking today, to enter a monster jam event at Golden one you either need vaccine card or negative COVId test. For monster trucks

Do NOT stay in LA
Drive 30mins down to Newport Beach, Huntington, Dana or Laguna Beach

Skip San Fran and come to the real SoCal. SDV the Yankee will guide you in the right direction

You will be good in Bakersfield

Going out to eat won't be an option for you.

But, but, they tell us masks work. Why can't I fly? As any learned person knows, those POS masks don't work.

One could then conclude that the so called vaxxes must not work either.

Flying is a concern for me. I worry the administration will require passengers to be vaccinated.

My parents are both retired and want to do a family trip. My dad was a boy when Koufax and Drysdale were in LA and he wants to see a game at Dodger Stadium, even though we're Braves fans.

Screw the vaccine. Pack a bulletproof vest.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago and had no issues. Impossible to say how that may change between now and May though.

I am absolutely disgusted you are having to worry about this. Seems like the American dream has become a totalitarian nightmare. Wonder what our founding fathers would have done

I mean, will they even let the unwashed into cali? Once you get there, are you going to be allowed to enter restuarants and liqour stores?

If you're serious about not taking the vax, I wouldn't go. But that's just my opinion for me and my family.

I believe LAX has a vaccine passport you have to fill out prior to landing. I’ll look it up and edit this post. Why are you staying in Bakersfield? That’s the worst place in the Central Valley. Bleh!

Edit: Passport form found here
For out of state travelers

You are subject to a $500 fine for not filling it out prior to arrival. This is applicable to all travelers 16 and older.

I recommend looking into Monterey.
Stay away from the big cities, especially LA.
Yosemite is a must.
Lake Tahoe also to be considered

Sequoia. That's the first item on our trip after landing.

I live in the Bay Area. I’ve only been asked twice for my vaccine card. Once at Gymboree in S.F. And once at Scott’s Seafood in Oakland

Honestly, I’d either come up to Fresno or stay in Visalia. You’ll have to come up that way anyway and you’ll avoid Bakersfield. Lol.

But around here (Fresno) you shouldn’t have any vaccination issues. I’m not sure you’ll have that freedom in LA or SF as has been pointed out. They’re completely different worlds from the Valley. Will this be your first time out here?
