I like how a race no one was talking about until today is supposed to be some huge victory for the Dims.

People on here have been talking about it for weeks.

The shifts are fascinating.

Here is an incredible picture, dude. This is from bush's 1988 performance in Virginia. His counties are in blue.

Notice Nova...then look at rural SW. It's like a mirror image to now!!

Dukakis heavily won rural SW VA!!, look at DC burbs.

Different times mean different issues, which mean different political coalitions.

The only thing that remains constant is that no party can ever hold onto power forever.

The closest we ever came to that was 1932-1952, but FDR was a political giant, and even his leadership didn't give dems permanent power.

True. The biggest problem for both is they both get too arrogant when in power. Look at the Trump supporters and their cockiness. Think they can't be beat. And then they (party in power) gets their arse handed to them. I've been watching this happen for a long time now.

Americans have the memory of goldfish when it comes to politics.

In 2008, Obama and the democrats were swept into power as Bush and the GOP were blamed for the recession, the war, and all the other nasty stuff. 2 years later, which is barely any time really, the GOP is swept into the house.

As long as we're bumping threads, spiking the football over this assclown hasn't exactly aged well.

Toddy hasn't been around since it was announced that neither Trump or any of his family members were headed to the slammer. He must be okay though, because this short clip shows him and Rachel Maddow hanging out together late yesterday.
