Now look closely at this picture of white nationalists from the article.

The race hate is palpable.

What makes those people white nationalists?
And who cares what protesters wear/carry?
People need to mind their own damn business.

There are so many things wrong with that article that I don't know where to begin.

For one thing, the idiots they quoted don't understand Christianity at all. For example:

quote:

The letter published this week by Christian leaders from across the political spectrum specifically acknowledges that terror groups like the KKK have been tolerated and even accommodated by white evangelicals.

"We choose to speak out now because we do not want to be quiet accomplices in this on-going sin," the letter reads. "Just as it was tragically inconsistent for Christians in the 20th Century to support the Ku Klux Klan and Nazi ideology, it is unthinkable for Christians to support the Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, QAnon, 3 Percenters, America Firsters, and similar groups."

The letter urges pastors to counsel parishioners who align with or support racist and hate groups, and to emphasize the values of democracy, anti-racism and equality.

Christianity is about FAITH HOPE and LOVE not the latest Lefty talking points.

The imagery of Christ in political garb is too much. Its idol worship to a distasteful level. Downvote me.

It’s a little over the top, sure.

But had they used an image of say, Mohammed in a MAGA cap, the press would have left them alone and Muslims would put out a hit on them.

I don’t like it either.
But I’d never presume to tell someone not to exercise their freedom in such a way.

We do not worship the image of Jesus. Just saying. You must be thinking of the Muslims.

I didn’t get very far in the list of signers. But the few I recognized, Seay, Wallis and McLaren, are leaders in the “emergent church” movement. In other words, they’re leftists. And they’re not orthodox in belief or practice.

There’s a lot of African Americans on the list as well. Which is a completely separate issue. For some reason, black churches are largely leftist in support in politics. And openly so. And they are quite happy to ignore social and theological issues with leftism to curry favor and give support to leftists.

Largely agree. Some of that imagery is trolling, though. It’s sometimes done tongue in cheek. And I’m all for trolling the left. Though I wouldn’t use an image of Jesus to do so.
