The best way to do that is free up a few billion in assets!

The United States on Monday reaffirmed its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s defense in the face of increased drone and missile attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi separatists in Yemen, underscoring American commitment to its Gulf ally despite human rights concerns.

The U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia tweeted in Arabic that its commitment to defending the Kingdom’s security is “unwavering,” following a rising number of back and forth attacks between Riyadh and the Houthis, the latest targeting Saudi oil facilities.

“The US Embassy condemns the recent Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The heinous Houthi attacks on civilians and vital infrastructure demonstrate their lack of respect for human life and their interest in the pursuit of peace,” the embassy tweeted in Arabic. LINK

And the Biden administration immediately removed them from the terrorist list (I'm not sure which list exactly but it was list about terrorist groups).

I read the link and found something interesting. There are 6 references to Biden. None of them are about Biden. All of them are 'the administration', 'the Biden administration', 'we', etc.
There is not one that says: "The President says" or "President Biden says."

Yeah more like stand behind Saudi Arabia with a knife pointed at their back.

"We stand (wink wink) behind Saudi Arabia" - Creepy Joe Biden

Our alliance with the Saudis is proof we have zero interest in fighting and defeating terrorism. They are worse than the Iranians when it comes to sponsoring terrorism.

Our interest in the free flow of oil from the region trumps our interest in holding their terrorists and despot accountable...this has been consistent for every single administration since WWII.

Not really. The difference is that the Saudis pay someone to do it and the Iranians do more of it themselves. Saudi Arabia has almost no standing army.

How about letting them have the weapons they bought?

Yea, everyone conveniently forgot the Khashoggi murder and the 9/11 attacks.

Wahhabism is the ultimate terror ideology.

Not disagreeing here BUT, our interest should be the free flow of American oil. I say, shoot the terrorists.

At our pre-covid peak we were producing 13.5MMBOD. We consume 20MMBOD. We weren't going to get to 20 for a number of reasons - mainly that a lot of that production was uneconomic and the capital markets were avoiding O&G. Additionally, regardless of how you feel about global economics, if the rest of the world suffers an energy crisis because the ME, specifically KSA, catches on fire, it will have a significant impact on our economy...the price of oil here would go through the roof.

But, we could have and prices were low and were stable.

So, are you for or against further regulation of U.S. oil production and why.

The camel jockeys will do any and everything to exasperate and draw the world into conflict. War's run on oil. I'd rather pay higher prices for our oil than theirs.

I say again, frick the middle east.

If you could still get funding to drill uneconomic wells I guess you could, but the cap markets were slamming shut even before COVID - too much cap destruction to keep fueling the party.

Not relevant to the convo but no.

If the ME were to go offline, you’d see the highest oil and gasoline prices ever recorded and ultimately the rise of alternative fuels. Conversely, if OPEC+ discontinues their production cuts oil could plunge back into the $30s and the next wave of bankruptcies will follow.
