I will not be surprised if 2 things happen after this:
1) Biden makes a statement saying that this will not be the policy of the US Government going forward
2) This accelerates the calls and action on impeachment.
The media is going to accuse Trump of trying to start a war. The media is already sold to China, they won't pull any punches.

He'll park a carrier battle group in the Phillippine Sea off the Taiwanese coast so they'll have nowhere to run to when the Chinese cross the Taiwan Strait.
