U.S. Opposition to Breast-Feeding Resolution Stuns World Health Officials

Story
quote:
A resolution to encourage breast-feeding was expected to be approved quickly and easily by the hundreds of government delegates who gathered this spring in Geneva for the United Nations-affiliated World Health Assembly.
Based on decades of research, the resolution says that mother’s milk is healthiest for children and countries should strive to limit the inaccurate or misleading marketing of breast milk substitutes.
Then the United States delegation, embracing the interests of infant formula manufacturers, upended the deliberations.

Breastfeeding babies is a waste of a perfectly good set of titties.

So this is about Trump colluding with infant formula manufacturers?

Why is such a resolution considered necessary?

Better question is why the hell the U.S. would oppose it?
Who gives a shite?

The resolution is not important to America at all. But it encourages countries that don’t have freedom in the way we think of it, and often take for granted, to crack down on formula makers and specifically their ability to advertise their products.
99.999% of mothers would be delighted to successfully breast feed. Formula is expensive.

I saw some radical bitch saying pushing breastfeeding as “natural” is “bad”
When will the kooks make up their minds?

This is the worst logic to endorse resolutions.
The "who gives a shite" stance is an argument to not do something.
A resolution is a premonition of something enforceable, whether it's the UN or some other entity.
If you "don't give a shite", you don't do anything.

There are countries that care about these resolutions?

What will this “resolution” actually do either way, regardless of the US stance?

No doubt this resolution would obligate that we spend money “encouraging and supporting” breastfeeding..probably some subversive way to fund leftist organizations like planned parenthood.

The benefits of breast milk over formula are highly overstated.

Seriously, you really need the UN stamp of approval to give your baby some titty?

Think about how many people there are in the world, and how many people there have ever been in the world. Pretty sure humans know how to fricking feed babies without UN resolutions

Have you ever dealt with a lactation specialist?

I’d love to get all my water from natural springs but that doesn’t mean I should be discouraged from bottled water.

Care to provide an example of why they need to be "cracked down" on?
