Hilarious that Maryland is in the top 10 and Texas isn’t.

You may look at a half glass of water as half empty but I prefer to look at it as half full. With that said Louisiana is #1 in the Reverse Best States Rankings!

Yeah, I hope they don't come down here and get on this sweet poverty, obesity, crime, and ignorance.

Strange retort. Look at the news and stats on both states. Hell, go visit both. Where would most rather be?

I don’t blame them for knocking us for producing Beto, though.

Nothing strange.

They used 70 criteria. As opposed to your nebulous criteria.

Again, which of the 70 is biased?

Impossible question to answer since they’ve disclosed the 70 individuals who ranked them and all, but you know that.

I was forced to read the US News and World Report by my liberal civics teacher in HS. I could see the slant at 16 years old. Can you now?

Ahh, but don't worry... the south will still get them sweet welfare funds from yankee taxpayers.

Healthcare and education are mostly shite in Texas, so they probably got that right. But I think they undervalued the Texas economy.

Wrong.

And that still leaves you drawing a conclusion without any merit.

But you didn’t know that. Which is the real tragedy.

Congrats. Seriously. This is how you answer a really simple question. I may disagree with you but at least I can see you put some thought into it.

The respondents listed their priorities. 3 years. 50k.

HC: 16, Ed: 15.8, Ec: 13.8

I understand that some people value economics over other things, but I know that it is far from number one for a ton of people.

And truthfully, without knowing the distance between, let’s say 9-18, Complaining about being 18 seems kinda melty.

Interesting perspective.

FWIW, the Texas Medical Center in Houston (Baylor-UT) and the Parkland (UT-Southwestern) System in Dallas are two of the top Medical Centers in the world. Wilford Hall (the USAF's top MC) and the South Texas Medical Center in SA aren't shabby either.

La. is really bad. But you don't live in a state as much as you live in a town.
There is a difference between Jackson, Miss. and Bay St. Louis, Miss.

As an ex Louisianan, I think given the educational level, trash everywhere, unkept hi-ways, economic opportunities, crime, overwhelming general ignorance encountered, among many other deficiencies, last 5 is about right. I won't argue for any of the last five. I always thought, back when oil was king there, without oil, we would be Mississippi. Sometimes we have to take a good look at ourselves. I did, and left when I retired. I still love the outdoor opportunities there, but there is something to having our family together in a much higher rated state.

That's a cool story but I have 5 hospitals within a 10 mile radius of me in north Texas. It's a huge state in land area and population and those hospitals provide services to a relatively small portion of the population.

Every state has a few great hospitals. That's great and something to hang your hat on, but doesn't tell the whole story across the state. What does matter is infant mortality rates, mental health services, and so on.

90+% of LA's political history is dominated by Democrats.

LA went blue for Clinton in 1996.

I didn't like Jindal as well, nor did I vote for him as I was still a Democrat at the time.

Putting this on Jindal is laughable, at best.
