From Grok:

Quick guide to interpreting ISM Manufacturing PMIAbove 50: Manufacturing is expanding (more firms reporting improvement than decline versus the prior month). The farther above 50, the faster/stronger the expansion.
50: Neutral / no change.
Below 50: Manufacturing is contracting.
Sustained readings above ~47.5 generally signal overall U.S. economic (GDP) expansion; the July 55.6 reading was said to correspond to roughly 2.8% annualized real GDP growth based on historical relationships.
Common qualitative ranges used by analysts and markets: 55+: Strong expansion (this is where the July figure sits—healthy and accelerating demand/output, with employment also turning positive).
50–55: Solid/healthy but more moderate growth.
Above 60: Very robust (rarer in recent decades and sometimes associated with capacity strains or overheating risks).
Sustained readings well below 50 (especially near or under the low-40s) raise recession concerns for manufacturing and potentially the broader economy.
The long-term historical average (since 1948) is roughly in the low-to-mid 50s (around 52.8). Readings like 55.6 are therefore comfortably above average and represent clear positive momentum after earlier periods of contraction

I missed the 3% uptick in the market the last couple days because all my money is in gold in a go bag on Powerman's direction
Heavy bag but I'll ruck it to the woods when the global economy collapses

I wonder what that looks like without data centers

Is there something about the construction of data centers, or the operation of data centers, that would be included in a "manufacturing" index?

JLG, cat, Toyota forklifts, John Deere CE and other equipment manufacturers are made in America. All of which I know personally to be busy with date center orders
Steal and metal is made here
Then the housing for the data centers are being built here
The construction on site is just part of the supply chain that feeds these things

Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in July for the seventh consecutive month
Yeah, but I can't see it at the gas pump, so that means everything is terrible.

I've stated it before, but people are bitching about the economy, but currently its because of the cost of goods. The economy, however, is pretty strong right now. The true determining factor by most economists for a healthy economy is wage growth, and we've seen consistent wage growth over the last couple years. This report just cements that even further.
