What war did Clinton start?
There was an obscure dude at the time named Osama Bin Laden whom Slick Willie & Co could have easily captured previously, and who the Saudis would have captured if left alone. In 1998, Bin Laden was as focused on destroying the Saudi Royal family as he was on US influence. The Saudis were in talks with the Taliban to turn Bin Laden over to them. In August 1998, they were negotiating price in what was basically a done deal.
Meanwhile, details of Clinton's Grand Jury performance leaked. Over the next two days PR surrounding his testimony got particularly nasty. So on day 3, despite horrendous, rushed intel, he started his little war against Bin Laden and al-Qaeda.
He launched 75 cruise missiles at "al-Qaeda bases" in Afghanistan with the expressed purpose of killing Bin Laden. Neither Bin Laden, nor a single person a single person associated with him was present in any of those locations. Estimates of casualties were as low as 6 dead. However, the attack succeeded in pissing off Mullah Omar, and he ended negotiations with the Saudis.
As if that fail wasn't bad enough, we took out a Sudanese pharmaceutical plant the same day, under the guise it was a chemical weapons facility for al-Qaeda. It wasn't. It was just a pharmaceutical plant. Whoopsi!
But it got Clinton's blowjob out of the headlines for a few days .... and led to 9/11 and a 20-year Afghan war.
