Not for this at all.

No other country gives a frick about your feelings and your pronouns. Only America does this type of BS.

Now it dose not matter to them.
Overall, like many above, it is not a huge deal. But also as above, uniforms are to promote uniformity and sense of team. The protective mask issues may also present a problem in certain environments where it matters.
As an Air Force Veteran we were told that in the event of chemical warfare you are pretty much screwed and the Mask's and suits are very limited in effectually protecting from prolonged exposure.
It's the interaction between service members that concerns me. If i'm interacting with a fellow service member by it an equal, subordinate or superior I will be affected by my life's experiences of prejudices and prejudgments of people if they are not dressed on duty the same way. If I'm dealing with a soldier that needs sort of discipline and he's wearing religious attire will I treat he or she consistent with prescribed military guidelines? Will I go too easy or too hard?
The mission should always come first and I just don't see how this encourages esprit DE corps in the military. Rather the reverse. This will create a dividing issue.

quote:none of that is right. First, the word kill in the 10 commandments is more accurately translated from Hebrew as murder, as in unlawful killing that results in blood guilt. You would have to ignore half the Bible at least to get the impression that God considered killing wrong, full stop. There are lots of legitimate reasons to kill, including in warfare.
Uniformity is important in my view. Some may argue that by not allowing a turbin/beard etc., it creates a policy of exclusion. My take...such is life...get over it.
One of the 10 commandments is "Thou shalt not kill," which may be counter to reality at times in the military. Get over it.
In short, killing goes against core Christian doctrine. You want to be Christian and serve, cool...just know that you may have to disobey your moral compass so others of your faith (who didn't serve) won't have to.
Even if you limit yourself to the new testament only, Jesus had several interactions with Roman soldiers who converted. At no point does he ever indicate that these soldiers need to change their profession now that they are Christians, and this is during a time frame in history where it's almost certain that these soldiers are going to at some point have to fight in a war pacifying the borders or internal rebellions, soldiers served for like 20 year terms of enlistment. Jesus never said, btw you can't kill now so you have to stop being a soldier.
Also, just an aside, Jesus himself was not some pacifist hippy like people today want to portray. At one point he literally beats a crowd of money changers with a rod, driving them out of the temple.

Gets hit with gas by somebody wearing a turban

Do they just accept these guys are screwed in a gas attack or do they not even have gas masks in the first place because they can't afford them?
People saying it’ll be a gas mask problem I have outdated information. They have gas masks today that seal even if you have a beard

Crock of pure shite, expect no less from the Air Force.

Unfortunately there are a lot of Vindman types in leadership positions in our military.

Sikhs are some bad mean fighting fkrs, if we could get several thousand of them in a primary assault force it would be great, I could care less what they wear.

I won't argue that, however, this more accurate translation is somewhat new to the the masses of Christianity in my experience. I would argue that, still today, most Christians would state their belief (incorrectly according to what you posted) is more akin to what I posted. That would mean many (most according to my experiences) Christian service members still have to come to grips with their internal moral compass (even if that compass is not calculated correctly according to more accurate translation).
Soooooo...my premise of "uniformity for the benefit of the country," in spite of internalized moral rationalizations, still has merit imho.

So you do care what they wear?

Shame on the Air Force for sure. Allowing the kinds of differentiation proposed is a big problem with unnecessary and unforeseen consequences. Not the least of which is the division sown as you noted.
However I don't think the Ten Commandments or all Christians are the hub of the problem.
I'm pretty sure a large contingent of Christians, if not most, believe and understand "thou shalt no kill" refers to murder and does not refer to killing by arms your country's enemies or pulling a concealed pistol in a mall, a church, or synagogue to stop a mass murderer by killing them.
Kill terrorist by drone strike? No problem.
Kill unborn child in its mother's womb for the mother's and father's convenience, the physician's profit, and spare parts for Planned Parenthood? Murder.
I realize some Christians take it as an absolute prohibition and are conscientious objectors because of it. Some though, not most.

I just love how something invented back in the day for keeping the sun off your back is now a religious requirement. People are so fricking stupid.

While enlisted in Army I worked at various depots across CONUS to demilitarize nerve agents. We used our masks a lot. We had to have weekly checks on our cholinesterase levels. The masks worked.
