I disagree. His constituents have demanded higher border security for decades and to no avail. He knows that caving now in hopes of negation later will result in rolling snake eyes once again. It's a waiting game and he's holding most of the cards.

You are willfully blind to the facts. Which is curious since we've heard constantly about how Democrats have been voting to spend money on barriers at the border - in the name of border security. Border crossing have plummeted over the last 12 years due to Republicans AND Democrats working together on border security. Then this buffoon shows up and claims NOW there's a crisis (the crisis was in 2006), and the ONLY solution is a "wall, not a fence".
Then you get posters OTB that clam they don't care if it's a wall or a fence, that's all semantics, they just want a secure border. Trump disagrees, however, and demands there be a "wall, not a fence". Then he says he'll own the shutdown. And now posters such as you have the cognitive dissonance to forget what Trump is saying, and just blame the Democrats for things that are simply made up.
It's quite fascinating to watch, actually.

The irony is that I'm not the one who's fixated, Donald Trump is fixated on the wall, and it's responsible for our government to continue to be shut down.
I'm just wondering if any of Trump's supporters actually care about what he says. And apparently few seem to, which brings me around to the point that, if no one but Trump cares about a wall, fence, or barrier, but are really only interested in seeing what the most effective method for securing the border would be, why doesn't he just acquiesce and allow the government to re-open?
