So if intelligent alien life is confirmed, then I would think most of us would respond with, "Well, duh. Tell them to come down so we can meet them."
We exist in the universe so why not other intelligent life forms? When we account for the incomprehensible number of stars in the observable universe, then the math suggests that there must be other life forms out there.
Now, how many are intelligent life forms is another matter all together. Nonetheless, it's definitely still very possible.

And once we have developed technology that can "manipulate time and space", as the Trump science advisor has claimed we have, the argument for distances being too big a hindrance goes out the window entirely. I don't even bother responding to those arguments anymore, as the people using them aren't paying attention to what is actually happening and just don't think things through well enough.

I saw that bet the other day and almost took it, but didn't because I didn't want to make a time based prediction. He's still got 3 years left. It may not happen this year, but I think it does end up happening.
However, I would think those odds should be much higher after what he just said today. People are going to push him to talk more about this.
