The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) has halted using references to suspects' race, ethnicity, and national origin in public safety advisories in an effort to avoid "potential negative perpetuation of stereotypes," according to a report from the Young America's Foundation.
The shift in policy was put into effect in late January, when it was announced on the Facebook page of the UIC Office of Diversity, and was confirmed this week by a UIC spokesperson.
The Public Safety Board, which was formed in August, was established to "review UIC Department policies and procedures especially related to use of force, de-escalation protocols and police training." The board will also "review of UIC Police Department responses to any major incidents" and "review of UIC Police Department communication practices and policies."
YAF asked Gonzalez if the new practice of not listing a suspect's race or ethnicity would affect law enforcement's ability to apprehend culprits, to which she responded, "It is not expected that this decision will have an impact on UIC Police Department operations and the ability to apprehend perpetrators of criminal acts."
"While we generally will no longer use race or other descriptors, we will include them if, given the totality of the circumstances, they can enhance immediate public safety and/or include differentiating characteristics."

This is a tacit admission that blacks and other POC commit the vast majority of all crimes.

Will they do this for all races or just minorities?

More leftist thinking.....just brilliant.

Why bother using gender or species either?

I don't believe you!
So, be on the look out for a person committing rape on campus. We can't tell you what that person looks like, because that would be sexist/racist. So, just avoid all people because any of them or none of them, whichever isn't going to get us in trouble with the twitters, could rape you. Seems effective, Good job "office of Diversity"!

I do. Just automatically assume you're looking for a black male and 99% of the time you'd be right. Especially in Chicago

The University of Minnesota has been doing this for years already, and if I’m not mistaken, it was pushed by a black organization on campus because they felt that every crime reported was by black suspects.
Here is an example of a UMPD advisory one may be texted/emailed while on campus: robbery occurred at the corner of 6th st se and 10th ave se at 5:14 pm this evening. Victim was punched to the ground and had his laptop and cellphone taken. Suspect is a male aged 20-25 between 5’8” and 6’0” and is wearing grey pants and a white tshirt. Suspect was last seen running north on 10th ave se. Victim is receiving care for his injuries at a local hospital. If you see anything suspicious contact the UMPD.
^This is not exaggerated.

Unless they’re white/white males.

SO - can we anticipate no more headlines with "White" or "Male" or "extreme right wing" or "Trump Supporter" or "R" (following the mention of any GOP with never a "D" following the name of a Democrat caught in a suspected criminal or unethical activity.)

Every sentient human already has this in their heads - especially when the wording of the article is so distorted that the purposeful avoidance of the description reduces it to comedy status.
Soon they can have one generic statement to cover the reportage of all criminal activity
"An abnormal occurrence has been reported at a location believed to be in the vicinity of _________ county, state of _____. The occurrence does not appear to have been caused by any mineral or plant based object and is thus presumed to be a representative of the animal kingdom whose primary means of location seems to favor the use of two hind legs. Please report the sighting of any suspicious creatures conforming to this profile."

So basically it's "We're looking for some man who was seen attacking a woman..."?
Boy, a cynical man might call this deliberate.

Is this because the stereotypes are proving to be true?

Yes. But don't worry. We're lowering standards so they'll get more people who didn't earn their way in and have no discipline.

If the race doesn’t fit, you must acquit.
