quote:

A handful of Senate Republicans reportedly started talks with illegal aliens enrolled in and eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program as House and Senate Democrats, along with corporate special interest allies, hope to pass an amnesty in the lame-duck Congress.

This week, DACA illegal aliens and open borders activists descended on Washington, DC, in their efforts to lobby ten Senate Republicans to join Democrats in passing an amnesty — before the GOP takes control of the House — that would secure them green cards and, eventually, naturalized American citizenship.

According to Politico, Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) held meetings with DACA illegal aliens to discuss potential amnesty plans.

People need to stop saying Republicans and Democrats.
They are one in the same.

fricking ^^^ THIS! ^^^

Thank you! I've been screaming this from the rooftops for a while now.

There's the "Democrats", which are the Marxist wing of the DNC... and then there's the "GOP", which is the moderate wing of the DNC. Then, there's the vastly outnumbered few, "America First" representatives, who line up to boldly engage against the entirety of the establishment uniparty (your Rand Paul types).

We get sucked into the whole "Republicans vs. Democrats" bullshite because we've been programmed to do so. Transcend the indoctrination. Wake up. There are very few leaders who actually are on our side.

This is tantamount to national suicide and Congress does not have that power.

Exactly. The few that actually try to work for the American citizen are so outnumbered, they can’t accomplish anything.

And this fricking clown wonders why he barely cleared 50% as a REPUBLICAN INCUMBENT IN UTAH.

He'll be dead to me if he helps out with any kind of amnesty in any way.

How frigging stupid! Republicans stopped Biden's 3 trillion dollar bill. They stopped Garland and got a conservative appointed instead. Then overturned Roe.

Just because nether party fully supports some of your extreme positions does not make them the same. They're not.

74% of Americans favor a law that would provide permanent legal status to immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children, while 24% are opposed. As with other immigration issues, some of the sharpest differences in these views are between Democrats and Republicans. While 91% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents favor granting legal status to immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children, about half of Republicans and Republican leaners (54%) say the same.

LINK

Senate republicans taking up an issue that is overwhelming supported by the voting public seems appropriate.

DACA is much like federal delisting of marijuana - an action broadly supported by the large centrist majority and held hostage by folks on the extreme of both parties. The far right wants to block the action because they are against it and the far left wants to block the action because they want to hold something popular as hostage to pass some omnibus progressive trash bill.

Republicans would be wise to take this issue away from democrats in 2024.

People who grew up almost entirely in the US and the US is the only country they know aren’t what I’d consider illegal filth.

For kids who were brought over by their parents no fault of their own and the US being the only country they know? Yeah it seems pretty common sense, enough so for 70% of people even. Be that 30% though brother

They really don't wonder.

I've been telling y'all, democrats and Republicans (GOP leaders) are the same damn thing. They have a monopoly and as long as they have voters voting ONLY red vs blue, they control us fully.

most Texas voters (63%) would continue the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that “prevents the deportation of young people who were brought to the United States illegally as children, completed high school or military service and have not been convicted of a serious crime.”

63% of John Cornyn’s constituents in liberal Texas support DACA.

You can dislike reality, but the reality is most Americans don’t want to deport DACA kids.

Consider it a derivation of the Kevin Bacon game. There ~620,000 people currently enrolled in the DACA problem. That’s a big enough number that most people in the US that bother to talk to other people likely know someone in the program.

And most people don’t like deporting people they know, particularly 28 year old high school graduates who work legally, pay taxes, commit zero crimes, and don’t know their birth country from Timbuktu.
