They're annoying, but they definitely have taught me a lot about my rights.

The beautiful thing about Dems pushing for bodycam adoption is that if you spent some time watching bodycam footage, you would see that it isn't as subjective as you think.

When? When have I ever called myself intelligent or smart here? I truly don’t care how smart or stupid anyone thinks I am.

and read all the time because you are so intelligent

Again, I’ve never said I like to read because I’m intelligent. I like to read. Always have since I was a kid. So what? You like to scroll Xitter. People are allowed to have hobbies.

I like body cams. Cops lie their arse off. And so do defendants.

It isn't.

It sounds like the right to a “speedy trial” that isn’t actually speedy.

Yea but the narratives have changed a lot since bodycams and FOIA requests have become common

Cops had to get more honest, though I still don't trust a huge portion of them, and criminals probably get tougher sentences due to footage.

The black population overwhelmingly demanded body cams after George Floyd overdosed.

Instead of it defaming LEOs, it backfired on African Americans. Everyone now sees what they are.

I bet they'd like a mulligan on that.

For how long? Does this vary by state or jurisdiction?

I believe the standard for detention is "as long as needed for a reasonable person". Also. you have to apply the "spontaneous statement" aspect. A suspect can make statements prior to being read their 5th amendment rights and being used against them. I suspect this is the case here.

The whole 'black fatigue' meme only came about because of easy access to bodycam footage from FOIA requests.

Do police have to leave you alone if you tell them you don’t want to talk?

They absolutely do. According to the law, you only need to scream, "LEAVE ME ALONE!!" and run and then the cops have no recourse.

Are you saying I could have robbed a bank this whole time and gotten away with it?

Yes! Just scream LEAVE ME ALONE and run away and you're golden. It's the law.

Yeah, Heaven forbid you be mildly inconvenienced while the police investigate a crime.

The defendant has to ask for a speedy trial. Most of the time they don’t want a speedy trial and actually try and delay it especially if they are out on bail. Witnesses disappear, evidence lost, cops retire, etc. That’s pretty good for the defense.

If you're back in your driveway, that's "home" and you can't be pulled over.
