-The UAE has suspended trade with Iran after reporting two ballistic missiles were launched from the country toward its territorial waters.

-President Donald Trump confirmed Tuesday that talks with Tehran have fallen apart, keeping the standoff in a volatile deadlock.

-Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remains low despite Trump’s claim that it has reopened, with an attack on a cargo vessel killing one this week.

I'm certain supporters of Iran here will tell us it was the US or Israel who attacked UAE

Good for UAE.

Every little bit counts.

I just saw this.
quote:

Mark Kimmitt, retired general and former US assistant secretary of state, says the UAE’s suspension of trade with Iran could carry more weight than US sanctions, given the Gulf country’s role in Iran’s economy.

“I don’t think that you can overstate or understate the importance of the trade, both financial and goods trade, between Dubai and Iran,” Kimmitt told Al Jazeera. “Right now, Dubai, UAE, is the largest seller of import goods to Iran, exceeding China, exceeding Turkey [Turkiye]. So, one-third of Iran’s imports in any given year come from the UAE.”

Kimmitt said Dubai’s role as a financial hub has also long given Iran a channel to circumvent sanctions. “In many ways, the embargo being put on by the UAE is even more significant than the embargo being put on by the United States,” he said.

Regarding whether other Gulf states might follow the UAE’s lead if Iranian attacks continue, Kimmitt said he expected caution for now.

“There will be a wait-and-see attitude on what happens with the UAE and Iran,” he said, adding the move is “so significant” that Iran could view it as approaching an act of war, comparing it with “the United States surrounding Japan after World War II and enforcing a full embargo”.

Saudi, Qatar, UAE, and Oman are over them at this point. They’re all looking for any excuses to cut ties at this point.

Seems that way.

Its all for the better. Everyone, including Iran, benefits from the irgc being neutralized, and a normal governing body taking over

I haven't been plugged in to the Iran situation recently so maybe this is a dumb question but is it basically coming down to.....

1) Iran betting that American sentiment will turn so much that it becomes politically radioactive for the US to continue it's presence

&

2) The US waiting for it's sanctions and actions like the UAE has taken here to economically cripple the IRGC and we'll see who blinks first?

Everyone who has stated they want the US to immediately withdraw.

I'm being only 4/5ths serious, but I also know this - Iran leadership has is playing the American public, from the same way they learned the DNC/MSM have. 'wait until American mid-terms', 'wait until MAGA's term is over', etc.

Hypothetically, with our country as open as it is, what's to stop someone from aiding the enemy? Let's say you, for instance, are an Iranian spy. Where is the best way to drum up support for your cause? Certainly, social media has to be in the top 5.

Gonna make it harder for Iran to bring the global economy to its knees. But promises were made here so I’m still “optimistic”.
