Nuke power plants are destroyed by every hurricane?

Coal plants?

Oil power plants?

Natural gas power plants?

Destroyed by hurricanes? You sure?

Puerto Rico had some fine solar and wind farms paid from by American taxpayers, but the hurricane ate them.

Those assets are typically owned by US banks and investors that put up operating capital for the ITC to displace tax liability. Also, they had private insurance and were repaired like many other things. That particular picture is also not representative of how solar performs in hurricanes.

That’s why southerners, especially during Jackson’s presidency, bitterly opposed federal involvement in the economy, and picking winners and losers. It was just open corruption, as it is now.

Holy crap. The person that shot the video shaking like there was an earthquake better go to the doctor and have him check for Parkinson's.

Proposed wind farms in Gulf of Mexico

Saw this on local news last night— right off the coast. What could possibly go wrong?

The power lines go down, but the plants and generators are well protected. Power is off for a few days or a couple of weeks most of the time. There is a major difference.

Don't worry though. I'm sure President* Biden will give Puerto Rico some new "green" power to feed to the next hurricane.

Yes, accidents happen in the oil and gas industry. The difference is that oil and gas actually contributes the energy we need and meets our demands. Whereas the “renewables” of wind and solar are a joke and do not meet our needs. They have never lived up to the promises that were made about them. The picture of the windmill on fire perfectly exemplifies the failure that is “renewables”.

There are dozens more photos where that came from including satellite shots.

I'm sure there are or were corporate and financial interests that got burned by placing a lot of highly vulnerable solar and wind generation in a hurricane alley. No matter who gets the bill, it's a foolish waste.

Obama pumped a lot into Puerto Rico's "green energy."

"The Biden administration has a goal of “employing tens of thousands of workers to deploy 30 gigawatts (30,000 megawatts) of offshore wind by 2030.” That was with his failed Build Bigger Blunders plans.

The EU recently declared natural gas and nuclear as green energy sources. Meanwhile, Calif. and NY are banning new gas connections in homes and buildings. I think they are trying to corner the market on dumb ideology.

They do make hurricane proof windmills for the ocean you know. And if you want to talk about what could go wrong in the Gulf, Big Oil has everything beat by a mile.

You can pull as many pictures off the internet as you want but you still have zero clue what you’re talking about. I was in PR for months after Maria and have actual data on solar fleet performance from not only Maria but several Super Typhoons. You’re pictures get the reaction you’re looking for but they don’t mean frick.

What was that? Last I checked they get the same ITC/PTC as everyone else.

the company I was working for actually made money on the insurance settlement because the people there know about as much about solar as the average TD poster.

It is unequivocally dumb. But some people will actually support this agenda that will cause pain and suffering that does not need to happen all in the name of their green religion. It’s sad how they want all progress we’ve made to be destroyed.

The current wind generators designed to be deployed in the ocean are only designed to withstand winds up to 128mph or a class 3 hurricane,

Aren’t there some downstream units coming out that NREL has tested at much higher speeds?
Not saying it’s a good idea, just thought I heard there were better units being deployed.
