One of the things some of us knew back then was that Trump was overestimating the integrity of politicians during the election. He has shown he was sincere in his goals, just naive in his belief that congress was worth a frick.

No, he is holding a Republican congress to it's promises. This is the reason the WH pressured McConnell to put it to a vote next week. Walk in there and vote that you lied to your constituents.
It's one of the few times a president has held congress responsible for their campaign promises.
