Agreed 100%
One can see things happening today that reflect pure desperation to raise cash with zero regard to values or common sense

I’m 20 minutes in.
Listening to him speak makes me wonder how in the hell was Janet Yellen ever qualified for that role

Yellen was picked because first, she is female and second, did I mention she was female?

I bet the GOP senators voted in lockstep to vote her in too
Eta: she was confirmed 85-14 with 35 GOP senators voting for her. Smh

Great interview, thanks for sharing. Bessent needs to be the voice of the Administration for this.

Former Trump voters will not listen to this. They have their narrative and they are sticking with it.

Bit of trivia. Remember the 17 economists that said Trump would be a disaster? Her husband was the one who penned it and got some academic buddies to sign it.

I listened to it last week, very clear that this had been a well thought out plan.
Not just the tariffs, but the doge, the refinancing of debt, the bringing back of manufacturing. A total transformation back to an economy when we had 40% of worldwide GDP and no debt.

Janet Yellen wasn't qualified?
Rather than cherry pick what you think are qualifications for Treasury Secretary, try asking any AI platform to compare her qualifications with Scott Bessent for the position of Treasury Secretary.
For what it's worth, I'm smoking what Bessent is rolling for now. So far, I'm liking him more than Yellen. But that's not the same thing as recognizing she was qualified.

Classic example, 30 years ago I worked for Pepsi. Goizueta had just taken over CEO of Coke, a cuban immigrant.
Pepsi was on fire, we were doing well domestically, making inroads internationally, our largest market internationally was Venezuela, but we were close to a deal with China.
Southern California was our most profitable market, outsold coke 4 or 5 to one, but had run out of capacity and were trying to build a mega plant in Riverside but had a problem with some protected species of rat so we were shipping from Nevada and Arizona to supply.
Goizueta took his entire hispanic management from Miami (where they killed us) and moved them to Southern Cal.....and started a price war. Costing us 5 bucks for every 1 they lost. We burned the furniture, stopped spending internationally, cut travel, cut staff....but we made the quarterly number.
A few months later China announced cola wars were bad so they were dividing up china between coke and pepsi. Coke you get Bejing, Pepsi you get west bum fck. And Coke's partner....the chinese govt.
Our high flying VP of international was no longer on the front pages of Forbes. Then on Friday our Venezuelan bottler shut the doors......and Monday he opened as the Coke bottler. He said the VP should spend less time in photo shoots and maybe come visit his largest customer. Ya see he is a cuban immigrant as well and Goizueta himself had come to see him.
