However, recognize that you are dealing with an American icon when you do it. Show some respect.
Lewis was disrespectful to both the President-elect and the Presidency. That is not acceptable. It is a simple concept. It is unacceptable! Regardless of Lewis's past, unacceptability and Lewis's unacceptable behavior must be the starting point of any discussion.
Failure to criticize unacceptable behavior is tantamount to weakness.

Lewis is one of the dumbest people in the house
Not quite as stupid as Hank "Guam might flip over and sink" Johnson.
Probably not on Sheila Jackson Lee levels either.
The fact that Lewis, Johnson, and Lee continue to get reelected is clear and ample proof of Black racism. The only reason they get the votes is, they are Black and know how to race hustle.
Obviously they are not being elected for their intelligence.

Someone doesn't know who John Lewis is.
Hey - I know who he is. He has turned into a lying piece of shite. He has bastardized the entire civil rights movement and turned it into noting more than "get whitey and gimme my free shite.'
The man is completely without honor or integrity and has been for 30 years.
Yes - he was there for the great civil rights activities of the 60s - as were thousands of others. He was too stupid to know they got what they originally wanted, and now just wants to continue demanding more and more free shite and more 'rights.'
He is a giant pus pocket on the arse of the country right now. If he is against it, odds are great that it is very good for America.
Screw John Lewis.

You are crazy as hell to call a politician a saint

The right to vote for African Americans still isn't secure, as we've seen in NC just this year.

Trump is the last person to call that out with YEARS of the birth certificate nonsense.
The hypocrisy here is just sad.
I never supported Obama, but I didn't think he wasn't a legitimate president. Trump himself pushed that myth for years. While Obama was president. NOW, he cares about the office? Now you do? What tripe.
Give me a freaking break.

Did you criticize every instance of disrespect toward Obama over the past 8 years?

That shite is just funny/awesome
Agreed. People generally hold black liberal politicians to very low standards, kind of like modern-day minstrel show performers. Put the mic in their grill and watch them embarrass themselves and then laugh at them. Sometimes they wear funny pink hats or speak English like it is a second language or say shite like 'I been Witchhunt" or "The Russians...Trump's not legitimate" and we roll our eyes and remember this isn't one of the people we are required to take seriously. Oh yeah, we have to pretend wink wink to listen like we do with a special needs child but we all know the score.

I would wager than more black children believe that than know Frederick Douglas and GW Carver.

Lewis said, "I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president."
To answer your question: (1) Yes! if I was aware of an instance where president-elect Obama was not viewed a legitimate president, I would have been extremely critical of it; (2) I have been critical of Trump on many occasions.

Between you and John Lewis, my money's on the latter knowing what MLK would think.
Ironic that MLK was once called a "race agitator", & Communist , among other names, by their forebears .
Now its "race pimps" or " hustlers" ( wink wink) for his contemporaries like John Lewis who knew MLK personally.
Many on the right think they are MLK's unofficial Spokesperson now.
Many names that Lewis can call that clown Trump, but he should stay away from illegitimate.

You're a known liar and you've been proven to be rabid and mentally deranged. Absolutely NOTHING you say will be taken seriously. You're a retard. Even worse, you're a "democrat" that's always playing the oppressed race card. In other words, you're useless.

There is just no saving black people from themselves...

And that wasn't based on fact, like Russian meddling in the election is.

bullshite.
What you are really saying is that we don't yet have a voting system that will just automatically register a vote for every black inhabitant in favor of whoever the DEM candidate is. That is the unstated goal in the backs of your minds. You want the population numbers of black to be automatically transferred into actual votes = whether the individuals want to go to the trouble of going to the polls themselves.
You are not for 'equal rights' - you are all in for 'super rights.' Just the color of their skin should add up tallies for DEMs.
