From what I understand the concept of NFTs seems pretty solid. Whatever you want to make an NFT will be attached to a unique blockchain so it cannot be counterfeited. It can be anything, physical or digital.

And what is the utility of that? I can also have this dumb image of Trump as a super hero without paying a single cent for it.

Where is the value in having a “unique” version of it?

this is basically just crowdfunding his campaign and you get a digital jpeg in return. no different than if he would just have simply asked for cash.

Is any of the money from this collection going to the Donald J. Trump campaign for President?

NO. These Digital Trading Cards are not political and have nothing to do with any political campaign. NFT INT LLC is not owned, managed or controlled by Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization, CIC Digital LLC or any of their respective principals or affiliates. NFT INT LLC uses Donald J. Trump's name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Digital LLC, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms.

whats the utility of a physical Donald Trump trading card?

this is the same, except is digital and authenticated on the blockchain, so it cant be duplicated because the jpeg is attached to a cryptographic hash

How does this work?

Can Trump use NFT card profits to spend on anything or can he spend it only on his campaigned?

Are NFT card purchases considered donations?

Are the profits on the Trump NFT cards taxed?

But I can duplicate it. I have the image.

We are not talking about finite physical copies of something such that owning one creates some sense of scarcity and value.

What is the possible value in having a specific digital copy of an easily reproducible digital image?

The website specifically says it's NOT for his campaign.

It's just a moneymaking venture for him.

Then explain it to me. I have the image of Trump as a super hero. Currently. I have it on my phone. I paid nothing for it.

There will never be scarcity of this digital image to provide it with any value at all. Why would anyone pay for a unique version of something that anyone could easily have for free and which has no inherent value over the copies?

We are not talking about original works of physical art, or physical cards, etc. This is a picture on the internet. Where is the value of having this?

It's technically not yours and you cannot prove it's yours because you do not have the corresponding blockchain address in your digital wallet.

For this kind of stuff, I know, who GAF. But for contracts, deeds, licenses, permits, etc. it a good way to digitally track these kinds of documents and ensure you own the original authentic document. Not a copy.

the cryptographic hash attached to the Trump jpeg (a random sequence of numbers) makes each one uniquely identifiable

so if you "saved as" the jpeg to your hard drive, you wouuldnt have the hash attached to it

IF one wanted to sell this Trump jpeg, one would connect his crypto wallet, and the hash would authenticate the card as legitimate; if the hash wasnt attached to the jpeg, it would be considered fake and therefore couldnt be sold

i probably wouldnt touch these in hindsight, but if he had used these NFTs to fund his campaign, i could see them being valuable as the first of its kind edition

Why would there ever be a market for an easily reproducible image of Trump as a superhero?

I just still don’t see how it would ever have value when anyone anywhere can have the image without paying for it. Again, the originals don’t have some quality that copies do not have, as exists with other analogous items like art or cards.

idk dude. The other day I showed a friend a meme on my phone and he accused me of not actually owning it. He really put me on the spot and I couldn't prove ownership. Totally embarrassing :(

The idea behind NFTs was to credit and compensate the original artist for digital work. In some cases, such as ticketing, I can resell a ticket that is an NFT and the artist who is preforming the concert gets a small cut on the resale.

Others have turned it into a get rich quick scheme for gullible people who have money to burn but absolutely no common sense.
