Mexico and/or illegal immigrants will pay for it either directly or indirectly. There's a lot of money that is transferred from the U.S. to Mexico.....

You're probably right, but holy shite what if he does get them to pay for it.

I have always thought "build the wall" has as much to do with truly securing the southern border through multiple means and enforcing immigration laws already on the books. I support building of the wall, but if he achieves a similar outcome through other means, so be it.

I have thought for sometime that "build the wall" may become the political equivalent of what "jumping the shark" is to the entertainment business.

This. Our nation's highest priority is national security. Clearly there are many aspects of insuring national security and no, we will never be 100% secure.

This wall isn't getting built. It was just campaign rhetoric.

Agreed. The details of how he takes care of business isn't what the end game is. The point is to actively get rid of and keep out illegals. He's mentioned many times that there's a process on how to come into this country, and it should be followed.

8 billion in seized cartel assets is a start. The remainder can come from taxing outgoing wire transfers.

We already have miles upon miles of fence...

Why is it so impossible?

This. Most Americans have never been to nor seen the U.S./ Mexico border. 3/4 of the border already has a big arse fence. So building a wall to fill the gaps isn't as crazy as you think.

Yeah it is. We built the easy part through the publicly owned desert.

A lot of the remaining border is privately owned. Plus the terrain becomes difficult - mountains, rivers, etc.

It would take years just to handle the eminent domain. You know, the thing where the government takes your land. Freedom, right?

Louie Gohmert stated this morning that funds had already been allocated years ago during the Bush administration and that he sees it happening since there are funds already available to get it started:

Here is a picture of me standing at the AZ/MX border this summer. I don't have any figures but the border in remote areas is very porous. But that doesn't mean it isn't monitored. The place I was standing was under surveillance from a nearby mountain by the Border Patrol.

Boom! These people dont care about freedom. Just preserving their culture. If you disagree you are subject to some patriot act type of violation.
