There is a big difference here.

Biden set the identity (Black Female), the went and tried to find anybody that might fit the identity he needed regardless of qualification.

Trump made a list of qualified people of multiple races and genders, then he chose one. It happened to be a woman and he hinted at his pick during a rally to get people talking and stir up the base.

Is he hedging some bets on getting additional support from the pick, sure. But, they weren't selected solely on identity.

One of the main reasons Trump is picking a woman is to avoid sex assault claims popping up

It’s absolute total bullshite that the first thing any of us thought was “he must nominate a woman” but that’s where we are in this country.

Trump already knew who his pick was going to be. Him saying it was going to be a woman doesn't mean he didn't consider any men for the position

Biden straight up said he wasn't considering any men for the job

I think he said it would be a woman simply because he already know who it will be. Although, I see no problem with replacing a woman with another woman.

In Biden's case, he narrowed the field from the very beginning for basically no reason. He didn't have to disclose that the VP candidate would be a black female. He could've jist done like SWB, even though everybody knew the only qualification needed for BRPD police chief was that they be black, I don't think she ever mentioned it.

He’s warding off the inevitable sexism politics the left will play up very soon. Instead of letting them shape the narrative, he’s forcing it to be abortion-centered, which most moderates are against.
