I realize my link is from Wiki, however this link says otherwise.
outraged that Serrano received $15,000 for the work, and $5,000 in 1986[11] from the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts.
Serrano received an award from the SECCA not the NEA for Piss Christ.

Cutting fema and ending nea are archetypical daddy party moves.
Putting the savings into war dept is daddy party move.
Smart daddy would pay down debt.

Because traditionally civilized culture collectively cares about the arts....yes, private entities will no doubt take up the slack but that means that whole swathes of American citizens will have nothing in the game at all meaning they are not involved in the arts. As a civilized culture it would be much better for us to collectively pay for the performance of a symphony which could be heard by poor kids, for example, than having a military budget that accounts for 40% of the cost of securing the world....

Good! Not a constitutional directive for the federal government.

It had been shown, with no public outcry, in a three-city exhibit organized by the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. SECCA had received an NEA grant, as it had for years, for its "Awards in the Visual Arts" series and had selected Serrano and nine other artists from among five hundred applicants for inclusion in the exhibition and as the recipients of $15,000 fellowships.
LINK
This from the University of Pennsylvania. Whether directly, or indirectly, Serrano received funds from NEA funds.
If it is proven that Trump recived payments from the Russian government indirectly will you say, or he didn't receive money from the Russians as you have with
Serrano?
As it shows (It is in the article) the SECCA show was funded by the NEA. (By the way, the article is pro funding for the NEA)

Is that your way of saying that Obama was not smart? I think our debt skyrocketed under Obama and under Bush.

I mean do you see him or any of his Trumpkins having any appreciation whatsoever for the arts? The arts is as foreign to them as Nascar is to gays.
Nascar is privately funded.
This is not. Let the private benefactors pay for art and radio they like.

Was Obama a "smart Daddy" when he doubled 200+ years worth of debt in 8 years?

If you are arguing that cutting a program only reduces to depth by so little it doesn't really matter than you are really making a point for conservatives. When cutting over 100 mil doesn't even move the needle then we have a HUGE spending problem. Cut it all.

Reasons why Trump got elected #788,204.
I guarantee I visited more museums, spent more on memberships/donations and actual art last year than you've spent in a life time.
I do it with my private funds. I chose to do so. Everyone should have that choice.
If Boise, Idaho want's a symphony let them donate their own money for it.

Future funding can be provided by hollywood if it's that critical. My guess is we'll see a bunch of videos slamming trump and telling us how important this is but they'll never part with their own money.

Finally.
I love the arts.
I support the arts with my tickets.
When the arts produce content worthy of being supported then they can sell tickets to consumers.
Our taxes should NOT support the arts.

Exactly.
I also love the symphony, plays and museums.
I support them with my tickets.
We should not be taxed to support artists or art.

Can someone point me to the part of the constitution that authorizes the federal government to fund the arts

Liberals get really mad when you ask them to be responsible for the things they love like feeding the poor, chopping up tiny humans, and now the arts.
For a group of enlightened, educated and wealthy people you'd think they would have the resources, passion and gumption to tackle this themselves and not wait for mommy. But alas, it's just not the case.
Is it the fear of not being able to virtue signal that causes them to whine instead of taking action? How many checks could our liberal friends here have written to different arts orgs in the time this thread has existed? A lot? Yeah. I agree. But, here we are. No action. Just whining. Muh arts.

is the only worthwhile art the government funded kind?
it is asinine to suggest conservatives (or trump supporters for that matter) dislike art, we just dont see why our tax dollars should pay for it

The thought of NEA having to go private is honestly going to make my day.
