He's done well. Not perfect, but well.

He'll never get any credit, though. Because, unlike Brandon, Obama, Bush and the Clinton's he's not part of the club.

Few jobs added? Unemployment must be very high, right?

No. But job growth hasn't been great. 700K net jobs added in a year would be bad. 181K jobs added in a year is really bad. The UE rate is still low but we should hope that the job growth this year is much better than last year. And January numbers already look much better so there is reason to be optimistic.

Is a net gain of 700K usually considered a good thing on an annual basis?

It depends. Were people that needed to have multiple jobs to afford Biden's inflation able to drop their side gig creating a "lost job"? Were part time positions converted to full time positions? How many government positions were eliminated to bring down the total jobs number?

We've been told for years that the average age of the workforce keeps getting older and people needed to work later into life. Were they able to retire finally and the position got eliminated? I would say doing away with a Walmart greeter because they didn't need to work anymore and not replacing them isn't a bad thing.

Trump is undoing Bidens frick ups. Will take time to fully flow thru but it will be better for private industry

Weird. In 2024 both the job market and stock markets performed significantly better than in 2025. I'm not under any delusions that Biden did anything special. It's almost as if if you just don't frick things up things get better naturally. Trump took a wrecking ball to trade and it likely hurt us last year. The January job numbers look better so maybe things are starting to resettle and things will be better. But he has to put the wrecking ball away for that to happen.

There are literally thousands of job openings but unfortunately many people won’t work preferring to live with parents or sponge off taxpayers. Just for kicks and giggles I went through a couple of job sites and picked out 10 jobs that if I were actually interested would have been a fit. Filled out their application page and sent in a résumé and within two days all 10 had contacted me. Six of them even offered me a job over the phone without having a face-to-face interview. There are plenty of jobs out there. They just aren’t people willing to work.

2025 was the year of deporting the most illegals, of course it will affect the employment numbers.
