Well, I guess that one statement settles this debate
Yes. It does. It perfectly shows that Trump never issued lock downs because he lacked the power. It also shows he reaffirmed the power of the Gov of Fl having the power.
It's also a statement post May after reopening began.

I wonder what changed
That's a true statement.
Paul Ryan.. True.
Jeb.. True. Hell Jeb started back peddling FAST when those number tanked.
Beaches. I was aware of short term closes... but according to you guys this was the case but not everywhere because some beaches were closed for a year. 100s People were arrested in Friggin 2021 for being on the beach.

Being an Obama and Trump supporter, you might be a fan of big government. DeSantis isn't.
quote:
As coronavirus fears grip the country, pictures of crowded Florida beaches are going viral. And Gov. Ron DeSantis is making no apologies.
The Republican governor has refused to give a statewide order to close the coasts even as Democrats — and CNN — sound the alarm.

So I think it’s important to allow that if the local communities want to do it, to be able to do it.
We’re also in a situation where we have counties who have no community spread. We have some counties that don’t have a single positive test yet. And so, I don’t want to be in a situation where we’re diverting people unwittingly into activities that are going to be more dangerous for passing the virus.

And I reminded you no more than DeSantis is.
You have zero credibility, jjdoc. This is why. It's hard for you to type anything out that's based in reality or an outright lie.
Like I said David, you are just skirting... side stepping.
I am no more than DeSantis IS.
In fact, it's looking like you guys are saying DeSantis had no power at all to stop the lockdowns...
Interesting isn't it.
quote:
I didn't call DeSantis stupid. I said if he indeed locked shite down under the guidance of Trump's administration, that would have been stupid and he'd deserve criticism for that. You're skipping over "if he indeed locked shite down."
There you go.

Are you changing your position on this again, Jjobama?
"Well, maybe he didn't lock the state down, but he could've lorded over the counties and told them how to handle their own business."
fricking propagandist.

Thank you for acknowledging that Trump was for reopening.

WASHINGTON — President Trump, under pressure to take more significant steps to slow the spreading coronavirus, recommended on Monday that Americans stop unnecessary travel and avoid bars, restaurants and groups of more than 10 people, as he warned that the outbreak could extend well into the summer. The national guidelines, which also advise home-schooling and the curtailing of visits to nursing homes and long-term care facilities, are the most robust response so far from the Trump administration.

Under the direction of Governor DeSantis, all bars and nightclubs throughout Florida will close for the next 30 days. Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) will be enforcing and providing further guidance.

Restaurants across the state of Florida will now be required to limit customer entry to 50 percent of capacity. Seating must be staggered and limited

“Don’t come here.” Desantis: Checkpoints open at state lines. DeSantis said the Florida Highway Patrol and sheriff’s offices will set up checkpoints to screen cars arriving from Louisiana. The order will require anyone who arrives from Louisiana to isolate themselves for two weeks under the threat of a misdemeanor conviction and a 60-day jail sentence.

March 21, 2020 - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Friday calling for strict closures of beaches and businesses in Broward and Palm Beach counties. The restrictions are much broader than what he has ordered statewide thus far.
quote:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was on Fox & Friends this morning and was asked about beaches staying open. Presumably in response to the pushback he has received, DeSantis said the message for Spring Breakers is “the party is over” in Florida.

More Florida beaches will be closing again to avoid further spread of the new coronavirus as officials try to tamp down on large gatherings amid a spike in confirmed COVID-19 cases. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a news conference Sunday in Pensacola that interactions among young people are driving the surge. Authorities said they would be closing beaches during the busy Fourth of July weekend.
State officials on Friday announced a ban on alcohol consumption at bars, and DeSantis explained Sunday there was “widespread non-compliance.” Several restaurants were shut down over the weekend in Broward County for not following rules restricting capacity and mandating the use of masks.

Governor Ron DeSantis at last joined the national trend of locking entire states down, ordering Florida’s residents to remain in their homes from 12:01 am, Friday, April 3 until Thursday, April 30

Here is a visible issue with you. You think that mentioning 1 state is a contradiction to when I mention others later.
All I needed to do is mention 1 state to prove the point. It's not contradiction to the fact of the other states. Nor is it some gotcha!
I mentioned lockdowns in South Dakota as a general suggestion that states that are credited with not locking down, actually had localized lockdowns. It wasn't a gotcha.

BTW, It's not big government to protect the rights of his citizens.

It's AWESOME that you are quoting CNN.
You are also BUSTED that this is MARCH before he issued the EO lockdown order.
The policico article you are using
Date: 3/19/2020...
Date of EO... 4/1/2020.
Pathetic....

Robb's uncle in Kentucky says that all of this totally happened statewide.

I didn't quote CNN, dumbass.

No. What it should look like is I don't find you believable. Bluntly, I think you're full of shite about 90% of the time, so read my posts with that as a backdrop. You posted a picture of an empty beach, but knowing how to copy/paste an image's URL doesn't magically make you credible.
I have not thought about, let alone commented on, what powers DeSantis has.

Of course not. Because you're only real "position" here is to go after any possible threats to Trump.

It is also 100% fact that Trump publicly supported lockdowns.

No David. You mention South Dakota with this
I think he's up to 5 or 6 states, but a few months ago he would cite only South Dakota.
But it's all good.
Show the lock down order from the Gov of any of those states.
Then show the local lock downs.
