This...and it doesn't make you a bigot. It makes you a student of history.

Seems like a bad move from a bird's eye view. But we most likely don't have all the information to know if it's the right decision or not.

Why not? Obama sold guns to Mexican gangs. At least these weapons don’t have a chance of crossing the border and killing us on our own soil. I’d rather this and not sending troops.

If we could just limit it to selling weapons of there, that would be a huge win.

No, but I’m not in the loop of the goings on behind the scenes. I’m confident that he did it for the right reasons. He deserves the benefit.

I follow Q, go figure. Doesn't mean I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night. But I'll give it a shot. Iran is controlled by deep state. Deep state has historically also controlled the Saudis. Strings cut, Saudis are more friendly to USA now. Iranian people good, perhaps even the ayatollah khomeini might be open to normal political proceedings. Some translations of Q drops suggest that the people running the country in Iran are deep state and compromising the ayatollah, just as there are Chinese based deep state operators infiltrating NK and Kim Jong UN. A small arms deal here, a 1600 deployment there, this does not mean the development of a new war. Follow Q. Starting new wars is NOT the plan! Cleaning out the deep state is the plan. Also, in regards to Q, misinformation is necessary.

As you read the above and laugh hysterically at my Q interpretation, consider this, should you be more worried about 1600 troops added to the ME to track Iran and some casual arms deal, OR should you be worried about billions of dollars and uranium sold to Iran, you know, one of, if not THE, most active supporters of terrorism? I dunno, seems like the OP story is an order of magnitude smaller than the one the Dems are trying to hide. So, yeah, I guess I'm cool with this for now.

I expected to find a thread full of recrimination.

I was not disappointed.

Flooding an area of the world with weapons. An area seeing a sharp rise in anti-American sentiment due to the indiscriminate bombing of civilians in Yemen. An area expected to see millions more refugees due to climate change. An area that already supplied the talent that executed the 9/11 attacks.

Does this really seem like good American foreign policy? Just another instance where the MIC is gonna piss down our legs and tell us its raining.

Given the draconian sanctions against Iran, they will fast be approaching economic collapse and anarchy in the populous. The Mullahs and their Military are going to be forced either shoot, or lose their guns. I think we all know what the Islamist choice would be; so does Trump, et al.

In the last 'uprising' against the Mullahs, they shot that young 'protestor' girl down in the street, and Obama never uttered a word. That cemented where the 'revolution' would go. This time, Trump building up a force over there that the Mullahs know will end in their defeat, from foes within and without (SA, et al).

It takes weapons to win a revolt; think 2nd Amendment. Same over there. Giving those weapons to a Nation like SA is highly problematic, as they could go from being helpful to our interest...to being a threat...in the span of a year (think Arab Spring). But there is no guarantee that even our own Nation could do the same. Just imagine that Hillary had won; the Constitution and Individualist Principle therein would have essentially become nullified, and our Nation would be supporting Iran (like Obama did) and working toward the dissolution of the Jewish State. And allowing China (Collectivist State) to continue toward their Military parity (of the which Madeline Albright/Hillary Clinton thought was fine).

Bottom line. Yeah...Iran's Mullahs are 'suicidal' Islamic Radicals who believe that bringing on a total war sets the table for their 'Madhi' to rule the World. There is no way they can be allowed to possess big nukes, because the MAD (mutually assured destruction) factor goes out the door with their belief. Hopefully, having a 'big stick' over there means we don't have to use it...though the Islamic factions likely will. Where it goes from there, who knows.

Is this an unprecedented action the President is taking? It is obviously lawful for him to do this. Has the emergency authority been used in this capacity by previous presidents?
Is the situation one in which the declaration is appropriate?

What is your specific objection? Do you object to the president sending arms to this particular country, or do you object to the president using the emergency declaration for this purpose?
