The White House announced Friday that President Trump intends to appoint prominent conservative activist Tom Fitton to a judicial oversight agency that would grant him the power to unseat judges in the Washington, D.C., judiciary.

Trump will tap Fitton to join the D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure.

Fitton heads the group Judicial Watch, and has advocated for investigations into officials from the Obama administration. The activist was vocal about his opposition to former special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Trump's relationship with Russia and the country's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

He has also warned of a “deep state” that is supposedly seeking to undermine Trump.

He has also called for the elimination of certain coronavirus safety measures such as mask-wearing.

The commission is made up of two non-legal members, four attorneys and a judge. One of the members is appointed by the president to a five-year term.

The body is granted the power to remove judges from their posts for misconduct or mental or physical incapacitation.

Good. Fitton has kept the pressure on Barr and Durham regarding their cover ups

I think sounds awesome, but, in all seriousness, is this constitutional?

I follow Judicial Watch on the Instagrams. I thought I would be updated by them on that page, but instead it’s just pictures of Tom in random places

Their website

The District of Columbia Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure ("CJDT" or "Commission") has the responsibility to determine whether or not a sitting judge of the D.C. Courts whose term is expiring, and who seeks a new term, is to be reappointed. The statute requires that the Commission file with the President of the United States a written evaluation of the judicial candidate's performance during the term of office, and his or her fitness for reappointment to another term. The Commission in its evaluation is required to place a judge in one of three categories. If the Commission evaluates a sitting judge as "well qualified," the judge is automatically reappointed to a new term of 15 years. If the Commission evaluates the judge as "qualified," the President may, if he or she chooses, renominate the judge subject to Senate confirmation. If the Commission evaluates the judge as "unqualified," the judge is ineligible for reappointment.

looks like it is DC judges

Were it not for Fitton, Judicial Watch, and FOIAs...Republicans would have let the dirt go and Trump would be gone by now.

Thank God for Tom Fitton.

please please please make him oversee all 50 states with the power to instantly remove any judge not following clear law and being a judicial activist making shite up for political reasons. we desperately need a way to expedite instant removal of corrupt judges like the one in hawaii with all the unconstitutional travel ban rulings he has zero authority or over site over

So, help me out with an honest question.

I think that the term “conservative activist” has a pejorative meaning, and I assume, possibly wrongly, that other conservatives also find it to be an insulting term.

However, it seems like most liberal activists actually treat the label of “activist” as a compliment. If a progressive judge is labeled as a “liberal activist”, don’t they consider it a badge of honor?

Thanks for the clarification.

This commission only deals with DC judges.
