How does Ukraine coming to its senses stop Putin if Putin wants to take more territory or simply bomb the shite out of them just for kicks?

My post history will indicate I am 100% DJT and MAGA.
So here goes…Trump and Trump admin would benefit themselves by utilizing a bit more “talk softly but carry a big stick” approach.
I get keeping the base motivated and energized but if you’re going to chatter like the 80s Miami Hurricanes, you better make sure you are delivering on the field like the 80s Miami Hurricanes usually did.
Otherwise, you’re only setting yourself up to look silly sometimes and that’s exactly what DJT detractors live for and love to see.
So here goes…Trump and Trump admin would benefit themselves by utilizing a bit more “talk softly but carry a big stick” approach.

In terms of small moves, yes. The big move, which we don't want is that if negotiations fail, Trump could just say screw it, and bring us closer to war by partnering with Ukraine.
Tell Putin not to touch any US assets in Ukraine and that they are just there for resource extraction operations. Basically cover the country with industrial activities. Set up offices and distribution in strategic locations, and if Putin attacks, they attack the US and I seriously doubt Putin wants that anymore than we do.
I think Zelenskyy is just betting that Putin fails to come to a deal and that Trump has to make a deal with him for a security guarantee in order to "win" the overall negotiation. We'll see.
