Why are you so protective of this man? These could be some dangerous precedents being set if POTUS can dodge just about any kind of investigation.

This POTUS has been investigated for over three years....you want a bad precedent?? THAT sets a bad precedent for all future POTUS. You don’t like the election result?? Give him/her a four-year proctology exam and hopefully make him/her quit.

Ok, just read the 3 1/2 pages of this op. First, no link so no idea what court ordered what and for what purpose. Perhaps a link to the Order would be helpful. For all of those posting that he should/must turn them over, your lack of knowledge and insight and comprehension is astounding.

If it is a state court, the ruling goes up to the next level and then the next level and then federal.

Second...building or explaining above: What actual tax returns are we talking about? Are we talking about the foundation? That is not "Trump's tax returns". Are we talking about his state returns? If so, there may be a legitimate state interest. Are we talking about federal returns? Is this a state investigation or federal?

Way too many questions for the idiots on here to intelligently discuss. Please grow up.

Ok, have now read the articles, etc. It is the 2nd US Court of Appeals (New York).

Interesting that they have asked for 8 years of returns for this issue: whether two women who said they had affairs with Trump were paid for their silence before the 2016 election.

Seems a bit of an overreach. Supreme court decision to take or deny appeal is going to be huge.

The 3 judge panel actually wrote this: "The subpoena at issue is directed not to the President, but to his accountants; compliance does not require the President to do anything at all," wrote Judge Robert Katzman on behalf of the three-judge panel.

I am ashamed for some judges and lawyers.

Then make it a law for them to be disclosed. As of right now there is a lengthy financial disclosure that must be completed. That is the law.

Court ruled that Trump must turnover his taxes in NY. Why would he take that grief if there’s nothing wrong with his taxes
You already asked this elsewhere and received an answer.

Moreover, we all know you know the answer AND, we all know that you really don't think there's anything "wrong" in there.

I don’t understand what the argument is. Trump has said multiple times he would release them himself once he is no longer under audit.

There is one thing I would bet everything I own on. That is that the fireman wouldn’t have a clue what he is looking at if they are released.

Obamas IRS in 2015/16 wouldve leaked something nefarious if they actually found something.

This is a grand jury proceeding for violation of tax laws of the State of New York through his foundation, which claimed tax exempt status. So, you would agree that the classification of taxable and non-taxable income is within the power of the taxing authority to investigate, right?

Does this all tie in to the October 2016 NY AG notice regarding the self-dealing and all that?

He should tell them to get the returns from Maddow. It worked so well from her.

Here's my thing: if people, public figures, and all are suspected BY THE PROPER LEGAL AUTHORITY of violating the law, they should be investigated in an equitable and fair manner regardless of party or political persuasion with the due process rights thereof. If these documents are in the possession of Trump THE PERSON, he has 4th Amendment rights and all that, if these documents are in the possession of Trump THE PRESIDENT he has executive privilege and the accompanying caselaw that supports that next to the US military. Full disclosure: I don't know much about this case because I don't care about the President's tax returns it's just a fake issue people create because they don't like that Trump eschewed political precedent and they got butthurt about it. If it's proven his foundation violated the law regarding self-dealing and stuff then it is what it is, it's not like the Nuremberg Trials or whatever.

I am protective of anyone, public or private, that doesn't want to disclose their tax returns when they are not required. Just because you don't like him or think he might not be that rich, shouldn't compel him to disclose.

And you don't think demanding tax returns from your political enemies sets a dangerous precedent?

I see some accountants going out of business pretty quickly if they start turning over their clients' tax returns.
