My take on Trump's statement is that it's still to early to believe Waltz job is safe. It may be safe until he finds a replacement and that is the lesson Waltz has learned.
Another thought is that the lesson learned is not to give blind trust to your staff members and you are accountable for your staff actions.
I do believe this incident did expose the leaker though. If it's not Waltz, it's his very close staff member.

trump fired mike flynn for far less than what waltz did. flynn was setup by pence and actually did nothing.

Well, it is and should be. He should get his arse chewed out as there is no slack at his level. Being a "good man" nws. This is not a Biden operation wherein there are no negative consequences, and the Dem wolves prowl the perimeter endlessly waiting for a chance to attack and bring the whole Movement down.
Walz should publicly apologize - assuming he had this low-life in his contacts - and deride/discredit Goldberg for his TDS at the same time.
