As for the we're gonna demand the money back, that's even less believable than his knee-slapper about 20% charge for every ship passing through the Strait (that didn't even last 24 hours before the President retracted that one):
Yes. I found the actual Truth Social post. On July 13, 2026, President Trump wrote that the U.S. would be the “GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT” and would be reimbursed “at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped” for providing security.

What is ambiguous in saying that we have more munitions than we could ever need in this or any other war that may pop up?
Relevance for starters. A precision guided missile and a nuke are both munitions, yet we’re out of one and won’t use the other. When the only weapons you will are willing to use must be accurate to 36”of a target, it’s ambiguous to include your inventory of Vietnam era carpet bombs in the calculation.

Thanks for schooling us up on that. Terrific contribution to the thread, as expected from you.

These are the threads that make me miss John Barron's lunacy

Maybe you should start some threads of your own. I'm sure we would just love to see what sort of amazing material you would bring for discussion.

Used to! Took too many forced vacations though, due to the snowflake nature of this board. People prefer emotional feels vs reals with respect to data and objective truth here.

I've had a few myself. Doesn't stop me. Maybe you're wrong about who the snowflakes are.

didn’t know the issue with the straight was finished. It’s been six months. Don’t hurt your hands clutching those pearls so tightly.
Who's clutching pearls?
President Trump busts his butt for getting deals for America. In the process, he frequently WAY overpromises (Mexico will pay for the wall! Greenland agreed to everything! Iran has agreed to let us take the nuclear dust!).
The "we're going to get the money back!" is the same kind of carnival barking as the "20% Hormuz fee!" Trump took that off the table the NEXT day because it was a great-sounding idea---but couldn't be done practically.
Similarly, this pie-in-the sky barking about "getting our money back" will be as quickly shelved.
ETA: actually, it will probably end exactly the same way...with some untraceable and unverifiable alleged promise in investment made by unidentified parties.
#####
Yes — you remembered correctly. Trump rescinded the 20% Hormuz fee the very next day, July 14, 2026.
The original July 13 post said the U.S. would be the “GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT” and would be “reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped.”
Then, on July 14, Trump posted on Truth Social:
“Based on highly productive conversations with Middle East leadership, I have decided to replace the 20% United States Reimbursement Fee with Trade and Investment Deals that the various Gulf States will be making into the United States.”

Right? How dare he say we want our hundreds of billions of dollars back! By God, if he keeps doing this shite and signing trillion dollar deals it will look like he is trying to address our debt issue and then we can't bitch about him not doing anything about our debt issue!
