I keep trying to find anywhere from anywhere other than HERE whining about Trump "giving up" and I cannot.

I didn't say anything about him giving up, I gave the reason for him doing whatever you want to call these shifts in direction. Winning, losing, negotiating, whatever. He was always at a disadvantage just like any US president would be.

Why’s this matter so much? What is owning it on a message board going to do?

So you feel there have been embarrassing moments worthy of criticism but you’re just not gonna type it out?

Sorry, the mods have stepped into our discussion.

I’m sure you got a PM, too, though! Free speech and all that

The tolerant left!

These are right wingers calling out the sycophantic BS.

And I gotta be honest, seeing right wingers objectively call a spade a spade on Trump policies is very surprising to me. I’m not going to jump in because the discussion is more healthy as it is.

They’re also self proclaimed staunch conservatives who have nothing to do with MAGA…

Conservatives criticize Trump and always have when warranted. He's starting to lose populists, and that is surprising.

Lots of MAGA baws are about to hit the acceptance and anger stage of cope, where they start accepting either the tariff plan had a goal and failed bigly or it's just aimless chaos that hurt us, and then they start melting at anyone pointing it out and saying they're cheering on the downfall of America. The cycle is almost complete.

Let’s be honest. Even if every Chinese job were relocated to the US, unions would run them out again. The only way we get manufacturing back will be when automation is the standard. We’re 10-15 years away from that. Companies are not interested in your compensation. They are only in that they will seek a lower level elsewhere. They will always seek the most profit. UAW style demands make the US laughable to prospective investors.

But let’s fast forward 20 years. What will our population be doing? Manufacturing stuff? Of course not. We’ll be arranging the financing, doing the engineering, developing the products to be manufactured. A service economy. Just like we are today.

Hands-on manufacturing is almost over. Are we chasing our own tail?

Only the most devoted will continue to do their thing.

It’s funny to watch how it’s all unfolding.
